Longbow sight worth it?

Hello.. i'm a pretty good ranger (94) and i have 80 (planning on 85 sometime soon) defense. yeah so i'm one of those cheap tank rangers that can easily kill other players in safe pvp and survive in boss battles. there are quite a lot of things in my arsenal that i use for safe pvp and slayer. i was thinking of stepping my game up by getting the longbow sight from dungeoneering. i decided to wait at least a week to ask about it, but there really hasn't been much information on it. All i really know is that the accuracy is amazing, it can be removed from one bow to another, it still allows for all arrows to be used and it easily has over 100 range bonus when you have on a full set of metal armor. the only thing preventing me from buying it is that i'm not sure what the max hit with it is as it hasn't been explained anywhere. i have heard aswell that if you wear full rune with a maple sighted with addy arrows in pvp you can pick off people 20 levels higher than you like nothing.

please do not say "example1 is better for your money because __________" i am well aware of the other rewards and i'm not asking WHAT to spend my tokens on. i'm just asking a few questions about this specific one.

even though i dont have it, i can assure you the max hit is the same than the longbow without the sight, because ranged strengh is only affected by prayers and arrows.

So in f2p, i guess that the max hit is still 180-ish

Maybe if your like level 70, but if your level is high enough where people pvp on their mains with 70+ def adamant arrows are poop. Well thats my opinion.

it would only be worth it if you're fighting something that you have trouble hitting with a cross bow.

 

In other words...it's not worth it. It would only be worth it for Non mems, as that high range accuracy is amazing in terms of F2p

 

I would honestly like to know where people are getting this 700+ max hit with the magic longbow from. I am 95% sure you cannot hit this high, unless I'm missing something, like the Sight increases range str.

As far as I'm concerned, the longbow sight is definitely worth it....

 

...For F2P.

 

Honestly, even though the Sighted Magic Longbow now holds the highest bonus for range attack, rune arrows just can't amount up to the power of bolts. That is, unless it has a boost to range attack power too. Which i find unlikely.

 

But in F2P, the Sighted Maple Longbow is a total beast. you could easily take down people in full rune, while in full rune yourself. Although i don't see where it would be useful aside from F2P PvP. Which is pretty risky with such a valuable item. Unless the sight adds, like 70k to the value of the item.

It's not useless for f2p, it'd be good for Pvp rangers, since the next best thing (maple shortbow) is almost completely useless against even the lesser rune armour pieces (med, chain, sq)

But I suppose that is the only time it's really usefull :unsure:

someone else on these forums reported that even with the massive atk bonus, they couldn't really hit through rune armor.

 

but a maple longbow-sighted + full armor owns other rangers who arent wearing full armor.

makes the ultimate ranger tank that can still deal great damage to anybody else that isnt wearing armor.

thanks for the replies guys (i rhymed). i think i'm going to still end up getting it.. originally i was going to get the mercenaries gloves but then i realized that barrows gloves are soooo much better. after i get the sight i might just save up and hope for a batch 2 (since i only play like 10 hours a week now that track and school are getting intense)
