Guest Mrmegakirby
Hey. So, lately, I've been working to get in shape. Now, I'm not out of shape - I just want to be "more fit". Here's some information about me: Age: 14Height: 5'11Weight: ~160 lbs To begin with, I've began to start eating healthier. This means cutting out most pops, chips, and other unhealthy foods. I've been trying to drink more water, and get more vitamens and protein in. I've also started working out. For me, this means following the 100 pushups in 6 weeks regime online, as well as the 200 situps in 6 weeks. I don't know if these are effective strength training exercises, but I think I've noticed some improvements. (Currently on week 2). I've also been playing alot of soccer lately. On monday, I have spring legaue, where I play midfield. Tuesdays and Thursdays, I'm praticing in the mornings, and wednesdays, I'm playing another game. (I play forward on those days). On friday, saturday and sunday, I just do whatever comes up. Occasionaly someone will ask me to play some sport with them. Now, I have questions: Is working out at night effective? I'm thinking around 1-3 hours before I go to bed.I've been hearing alot of debates about whether or not milk is healthy for you. Taking into account it's protein, calciuim and yummie factor, should I drink it? If not, what should I eat/drink?With my current regime, will I become "more fit"? fastortoise
You're pretty much doing everything properly (for a 14 year old).I wouldn't suggest doing anything too serious until you're fully well grown.
Lenticular_J
Drink milk. Drink all the milk you can. It's [bleep]ing delicious. And pretty healthy. Milk and water, with maybe a few select juices thrown in (cranberry is okay). That's it. Even if all you do is cut the [cabbage] you're drinking and replace it with 5-10 glasses of water a day (ridiculous, unneeded amount - I still drink it) and 2-3 glasses of milk a day, you'll notice a tremendous difference in how you feel. Being healthy is 80% in the kitchen, 20% in the gym. Or so I know. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
NorthernHero
Is working out at night effective? I'm thinking around 1-3 hours before I go to bed.At night it's best to sleep. 1-3 hours before bedtime is ok. As long as it doesn't interfere with you getting sleep. I've been hearing alot of debates about whether or not milk is healthy for you. Taking into account it's protein, calciuim and yummie factor, should I drink it? If not, what should I eat/drink?Milk is ok. Water is good too. Drink when thirsty. With my current regime, will I become "more fit"?100 pushups and 200 situps in 6 weeks.. Thats like 2 pushups a day? Thats not very much but I suspect you are beginner so its ok to start lightly. You may soon feel you can do 100 pushups a day though, then just stack on the reps and keep going :). Jeffwilson99
Yeah you should definately drink more milk. And Northern Hero, I believe Kirby's referring to this. You could also throw some cardio in there, going for a run 2-3 times a week, if you fell you're not doing enough at soccer training.
NorthernHero
^ Oh that seems like a good program u have there. If you can do 100 consecutive pushups, you can most definetely say youre 'fit'.
