EW3 Counters

Recommended Posts

I'm kinda disappointed that your guide doesn't even mention the secondary counters in EW3. Unlocking the second counter makes the second puzzle easy, unlocking the third gives infinite moves and means you don't have to reset every time.

This is a correction/suggestion page as opposed to feedback, however we are still working on the guide to make it easier. I personally spent 8 hours trying to finish the quest before a guide was made and before realizing about infinite gears.

If you have any images that we can use such as how to unlock infinite gears it would be highly appreciated.

It is briefly mentioned in the "Features of Interest":

Machine Counters - there are two Counters located within the machine itself (one each on the left and right sides, from the aerial view). These are seperate from the Turn Counter, and can actually grant players extra turns should they be activated. Activating the Counters involves forming a line of Mechanism Sliders from the Drive Mechanism to the Counters' terminals (creating a closed circuit), although they must be properly connected to earn these extra turns. The Counter on the right requires that the "Mid" Slider be the last Mechanism in the chain in order for the connection to be made, while the Counter on the left requires the "Tall" Slider to be the last.

Perhaps you missed it? At any rate, I agree that the information should probably be more prominent; I'll see what I can do about it.

Interesting that this gets two comments in a matter of hours.

Yet full step by step puzzle solutions posted yesterday have yet to get any crew attention, despite obviously player interest in using them.

You aren't being "snubbed" or anything, if that's what you're implying. Replies don't necessarily mean anything.

Anyway, I will be looking into all of the newish threads in this subforum later today (have to get ready for an eye appointment in a few hours). Your suggestion would require a significant change to the quest guide, so don't be peeved if it doesn't get looked at first. We greatly appreciate the submission, but, for larger ones such as yours, we need more time to consider the best way to implement it.

Just from past experience alot of threads in the quest subforum seem to get overlooked and it is nice to have some response when u submit even if its jsut to say thanks not useful to us or thanks we'll see if we can use this.

And In terms of a big change it doesn't have to be.

Set up pages like the ones for MEP2 then just link puzzle solutions in the quest guide for those that wish to have a step by step solution

I agree. That's one of the things I didn't like when I was more involved with the crew.

Its weird that it seems exclusively quest forum. Every other submission I had has had a response, but I've had at least 3 in quest forum where crew never made any comment what so ever; at least 2 of which (if memory serves) were 100% perfect corrections to guides that became incorrect through game updates.

Well, I can tell you there that most of the crew has probably done the quests already and so submissions need confirmations or discussions if they can't do it themselves. Still, you're right, it would be nice to know that a submission has been seen, and while they do "see" everything, many times those things that are seen get quickly forgotten due to other work.

Per this post, the information on how to obtain the extra turns has been made more prominent. Unfortunately, I neglected to take the "before and after" pictures of these moves while I was completing the quest, so I'm afraid the guide is lacking them. If anyone happens to have clean pictures of the "extra-turn" puzzle solutions, I will gladly credit you should you send them to me for use in the guide.

Also, guys, you'd honestly be surprised at how many Quest Authors/Editors we have on Crew. At the moment, our main man for the job is away due to real-life problems, and so that makes me the only active Crewbie available who regularly writes/edits quest guides. We simply don't have the manpower to keep this subforum clean, and even if we did, it would still be no simple task due to the often obscure or difficult-to-prove submissions we receive. As SportsGuy said, most of the Crew have already completed all or most of the quests, so, for the most part, we can't go back and check the validity of the submission for ourselves. This quickly creates a back-log of work, as you can see, and I honestly don't like the situation any more than you do.

As for the "posting" problem, I can't speak for the other Crewbies, but I can give you my perspective on the matter. Simply put, I (personally) do not like to make hollow promises. Sure, I could post on every quest submission thread and say that I'll be looking into it, but that wouldn't be the truth in several of the cases (since I can't go through the quests again personally, as I mentioned earlier). That's my reason for not responding to every thread, and I apologise if it appeared that I was being rude or uncaring by not doing so.
