Cassynder
Don't really need a reason besides "I want to", really. But I don't agree with the people flaming him for his use of colorful vocabulary. But I shouldn't be surprised, this is TIF...
strilmus
Eh, I think we don't have enough people writing those articles, but then if I say that too much I might have to write a new one! It matters not if the prose is longwinded if it at least delivers some kind of point and I think he's got enough there to warrant being eloquent about it. I've seen articles which have had no point to them at all and by the end I'm just hoping they find something to talk about next time. But even then I don't get all up in their grill about it and never mention the issue at all because I respect their will to try writing about something that has already been written to death and don't want them to give up just because I accidentally trampled over their feelings with a poorly thought out rant like this one I've just written. Honestly I feel that if we can accept poor use of grammar as long as the basic idea structure is there, we can easily endure the opposite side of the spectrum without making a federal issue out of it. Anyway. I'd have to agree that it is the potential and the bits of concepts here and there that are mostly keeping me here, since whatever the rest of the game used to be isn't there anymore.
Nah_idiot
If simply for fun, couldn't I play something like Modern Warfare 2? This is why I pk all day. For me, Runescape for me is just fun, like an FPS or something, I don't lie to myself and make up reasons why levelling up skills and gaining pixels will get me anything other than that. And OP, you're extremely pretentious.

nerdboyxxx
I don't see runescape as challenging at all... ...but I play for the challenge. And how was it tl;dr lawl :|. It was a nice read :P.
Nah_idiot
I am going to genuinely contribute to this topic now, as I am bored. OP, as much as I admire your interest in verbose prose and the English language, I believe you come across as pompous and pretentious with your topic. (In my opinion, at least). I also think that this whole topic is unecessary and completely for your own personal gain; to me it seems you are attempting to justify your playing of Runescape for some reason, and quite honestly, we don't care why you play. Perhaps you have been made upset by the opinions of other people, who don't play Runescape, or perhaps it's just some personal issues that have made you feel the need to make this topic. Either way, I fail to see the actual discussion value here, other than 'gratz u kno y u plai roonskapz lolz'. Also, I hasten to disagree with many of the points you make, however this is probably because I am a pker and not a skiller. Runescape in my opinion really shouldn't be a game where you work on your 'character' and 'escape from the real world'; rather, a game to play for fun.usually it is merely creating a better character - self improvement I enjoyYou're not improving yourself, you're improving a pixelated useless character, and in my opinion you have issues with yourself to make this topic, and should aim to fix yourself/improve yourself in real life and not in a game. Happily from the final paragraph I see you are kind of planning to do so by 'creating' things. Either way, the only valid point you made is the last one about the ability to create in Runescape, so I accept that, but I still think skilling's a load of crap. However if I go into that on here I'll get flamed and people will try and justify the hours of their life wasted on skilling, so yeah.

Yankee_Jr
"That was quite an awe inspiring post." IIBowsII (14th post) I really couldn't say it any better than that. As for the reason I play, I think it is probably because Runescape formed such a great part of my childhood, and so therefore there are so many memories embedded within the game. It does bring a tear to my eye when I remember all those happy times And like so many above me have stated, amazingly written, and so I tip my hat to you. Ad Hominem, to a degree - Don't try and say I'm not right in the head because my opinion differs from yours. It's not like I 'waste' my time playing this game - generally I play when I have barely anything I feel worth doing otherwise (eg: writing, playing music, 'socializing', working, going to school). To say I have issues, someone you know only through one work, is to make some really blind leaps in judgment that would seem to discredit your logic altogether. Not everyone's so damn selfish with what they do - seeing the people who agree with me only validates that this topic has value.

Not everyone's so damn selfish with what they do - seeing the people who agree with me only validates that this topic has value.Firstly, this is not a 'work', it's a forum thread, I would not class that as a work, and okay, then if you don't have issues, and you don't play Runescape much, I fail to see the reasoning for creating this topic in the first place. I never said you weren't right in the head. I merely stated that you obviously made this topic to justify your own playing on Runescape, no one else's, and therefore in my opinion it lacks value, and it must be for at least some personal reason. Because of this, the mods should close it, but obviously they're too busy admiring you because of your writing style, which to be fair is nothing immaculate.
