Rinoa437
I'm 61 ranged and looking to make sure I'm using the best set-up I can. My current set-up is: sc coifAva's accumulatorglory ammysteel arrowsmagic longbowred bodyred chapsaddy gloves I know the sc coif should be updated, but I almost have enough points for a slayer helm and will probably wait until I have that. As for the longbow and arrows I'm not sure what to use. I know using a crossbow with mithril bolts will give me a much better ranged max hit, but I'm not if it's better than the speed and specials of the magic bows. The addy gloves give me +7 to ranged attack, but if there is something better let me know. For the boots I'm looking to get snakeskin boots. That just leaves the ring and I have no clue what all my option are for that. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. STATS[hide][/hide]

I mean course if you got the money you can obviosuly update with some of the more rarer equipment. Or what are you looking to due cause a crossbow may (or may not) be favorable. _Douglas
If you have 40 defense, you might want to consider a Red Dragonhide Coif from the Fist of Guthix minigame. You can buy an uncharged one at the GE and charge it up with FoG tokens, but it does degrade over time. It gives a +6 ranged attack bonus, while your sacred clay coif is only giving you +2 currently. At 70 ranged you can use a God Coif and that gives +7 ranged attack, and doesn't degrade. Also, consider replacing your Glory with an Amulet of Ranging, if you have the spare cash. As far as weapon, the magic longbow is far outdated (unless you're using a longbow sight) and you should definitely consider changing weapons. Knives are always a good choice, but if they're not your thing then using the best crossbow you can get a hold of is great too. With both of these alternatives, you should use an unholy book. As for rings, the standard Archer's ring is great if you feel like spending the money on it. Alternately, the enchanted rings from Mobilizing Armies can help boost your range accuracy. Good luck! geesch
I dont really think an ammy of ranging is worth the cost. I would far rather use a fury instead of having a ranged specific ammy. A fury is useful in whatever you do, so its worth it. If you have a low budget, an archer/nietznot/dhide coif paired with snakeskin boots are decent. Ranger boots and a robin hood hat are better, but MUCH more expensive. If you are fighting weak enemies, knives are a good weapon choice. They are fast and fairly accurate, if i remember correctly. If you are fighting stronger enemies, a rune cbow with broad bolts are great. In both cases, using an unholy book will be beneficial, along with an archer ring. You pretty much need an accumulator regardless of what youre doing. Other than that, enjoy :) PS: if you are using range for the sake of getting it higher, you might consider chinning. Youll get far better exp/hour there. Its too early for you now, but when you get to 80-85 ranged, you should consider it.
tigershelby2
You might also consider using a rune crossbow. Yes, I know the magic bows have a spec att, and they are what i used back when I switched to p2p, but really, the rune c bow beats any regular bows for regular damage. If you want a weapon with a spec attack, you could look into zaniks c bow, or just switch to either magic bow for the spec then switch back.
