Well, if you stay focused you can burn about 1200 logs per hour so: 90xp * 1200 = 108k xp per hour

Use maple logs.

Use maple logs to train firemaking. The xp rate is about 150k xp per hour on average. You can exceed that if you're determined, but the amount of time you'll save by by burning maples is well worth it.

the most logs I managed to burn in an hour using the backlighting technique at the GE was 1523 logs. at 90xp per log, that's around 135k xp if they were willow logs.

That was my very very best though, and with normal lighting, I wouldn't expect much higher then 1200 logs an hour.

Yeah, willow logs are so much slower than maples, and you barely save any money. It's just not worth the massive xp loss to use willows.

 

And yeah, you should figure about 1200 logs/hr, give or take depending on your focus. I suggest learning to light fires backwards without stopping to eliminate the time spent running back to the bank.

I don't want to beat it to death, but use maples. With almost any income, its more efficient to use those. You can easily get 160k exp an hour if you use gloves/ring.
