Maybe a power supply too.

O.o you had a lot of money to spend on this. That is one very nice build though.

I already had the power supply, 3d vision and 2 of the syncmasters.

and the i7 was a present - late birthday while i waited for the price to drop a bit

Wow... that is well over $5000 USDollars worth of parts there not including the Monitors or parts you already had.. probably even more expensive in the UK you're very lucky a $1000 dollar CPU for a birthday is insane lol..

With that cooling system fitted into the case what are you planning on Over clocking your CPU too :) ? I would have gone with the new ASUS Rampage III Extreme mobo if I were you.. it's very nice

Hope your not just using that rig for Runescape ;) think you'll be posting some pics of the build & benchmarks ;) ?

Deffo will be posting some pics and benchmark results.

Aiming to clock to at least 3.5 possibly higher

depends what the processor can take,

nooo runescape arent the only plans for this, altough i imagine it would look fair epic!

That's a really nice epic build that I'm sure many people here would die for, but I really don't envy your electricity bill. Especially with those Tri-SLI 480s. :v

That is beautiful. Do games even support 3xSLI?

How much were those SSDs? Last time I checked a 64GB was ~$250, so I can't imagine how expensive those were

SSD's have dropped a little in price. I just glanced on Newegg and saw a 128GB for $225 after mail in rebate (There could be even cheaper ones as well, I don't know).

And I know you need at least 2 cards for things such as 3D surround, but I do not know if games have taken advantage of 3X SLI yet. If not, you could always use it as a PhysX card.

OT: That is one sweet build! If I were you, I would RAID0 those SSD's you have for even more blazing speed, but that's just my personal preference I guess. Of course, this increases the chance of data loss rates, but it looks like you can just back up to other drives with important data. 3 GTX 480's! O.O

I only have one GTX 470, which runs every single game I have on maxed out graphics at 30+ FPS (Some old, some modern). I guess you could use that power for things that use CUDA, like photoshop and some video encoding programs, as well as benchmarking, but that is a little overkill for video games lol. Although, video games are always advancing, so I assume you wanted a more future proof build, which was definitely accomplished (I would rather buy more price performance builds though).

As for the CPU, that is a great one. I have the AMD 1090t Black edition, which is AMD's answer to the very CPU you got. Yes that Intel 6 core outperforms AMD's 6 core. To me though, I do not care about performance, I care about price performance. AMD's 6 core was only $300, whereas Intel was $1000 (And it is not 3 times better). If you want the best, go with what you got though.

One sick setup my friend! I wish I could use the 3D surround, but alas, I don't have the cash for it. I can only imagine running Bad Company 2 on three screens in 3D...

Have fun using all that hardware!

3x SLI works fine on most games.. haven't seen it decrease performance yet anyway so thats all that matters, in most cases it boosts it.. but not x3 as lots of people assume SLI cards means 3x the FPS/Performance of one card haha.

3.5GHz is a little low if the cooler that comes with that case is as good as reviewers say it is, I have a i7 930 @ 4.2GHz stable on liquid cooling (360 Radiator) and I have seen stable CPU's at 4GHz on air, don't brake it if your not comfortable with pushing it though lol. Can't wait to see some of those pics :) will be awesome.
