Putfile says goodbye to Singapore

Featured Replies

If I had the choice, I would not have hung him. I would not hang anyone, as I don't believe in the death penalty. However, if you ask me whether he deserved to be hung because who broke the law 17 times over with the amount of drugs, then I would agree. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. It just happens that 'the time' means death in this case. Whether or not I believe countries should use the death penalty doesn't come into it. I accept that's the punishment Singapore chooses and that's the way it is.

That's very, very lame of Putfile.

It really is, how stupid

Often, the first warning prisoners have of their imminent execution is when they are taken out of their cell in handcuffs on a Friday, the day executions are normally carried out. They are taken to a public square, blindfolded and forced to kneel. The executioner raises a sword, then brings the blade down across the prisoner's neck. Sometimes more than one stroke is needed to sever the head. A doctor certifies that the prisoner is dead, then the body and head are removed and buried.

Dealing the drugs he had (which was a LOT considering the countries' reaction) would have killed a lot more than one person.

One chick got 3 months for having TWO ectasy tablets. Had she been caught at an airport and not in a night club, chances are she would've been looking at 10 years for 'smuggling'. They don't give a damn how much it is. Although it probably comes into play, you smuggle drugs, someone will try and get you executed, regardless of how much it is.

Seeing as how i've never even heard of Putfile i'll go ahead and join the boycott.

This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.

Singapore is thus at fault two different ways: in using a barbaric style of execution and in refusing to heed diplomatic requests.

Hanging is still sanctioned within the US. As to refusing to heed diplomatic requests, let's not drag up the whole Iraq invasion :P

Of course not

Regardless of the politics, I just like to see a company doing something besides just focusing on money. At least they're taking a stand.

Thats pretty stupid of them to block all users in Singapore. Its not their fault, its the fault of the country's stupid laws and lawmakers.
