Celisuis2341
Hey Tip.It Im going to get my magic up during the bonus exp weekend as it is one of the skills that I really don't like to level. So im planning on Alching from level 64 upto 99. My question is: Whats best to alch:Should I alch bows from fletching?Armor from Blacksmithing?Fish from Fishing?Something Else Entirely? Thanks Yepidoodles Game Creator :)
Jakesterwars
If you're looking for SOME payback from alching, I would do bows. If you're going for speed, do something like needles or something that stacks and costs cheap in a store.

Im not all that bothered about losing money, as it can be made quite easily by fishing and woodcutting yews. Game Creator :)
crashNburn
Alching is terrible, unless you can't stand concentrating at all. Doing it on the bonus weekend is even worse, it has a low exp rate, and will barely benefit from the multiplier compared to something like plank make/string jewelery/single ore superheating (the only currently available option to you). mughinn
i guess that if you want to lvl magic on the exp weekend you should use a faster way, because alching is never a good way to lvl magic(unless you're woodcutting or fishing while doing it), in my opinion you should superheat iron or gold ore, its double the xp per hour and will give you some smithing xp too.if you still want to alch, id suggest trying to buy some things that profit or at least alch more than the exchange value, for example, willow logs are 9 gp on GE, and they give 36 gp when alched. crashNburn
For experience, gold is usually substantially better (it provides amazing amounts of smithing experience with goldsmith gaunts). However, during the bonus weekend other experience multipliers will not work (gaunts), so superheating gold would be a waste. Go for iron. Zaaps1
Alching is heinously inefficient. I would avoid alching like the plague. There are just so many better options out there. You could burst Rock Lobsters after level 70, which is more efficient because it is not only ~30-50% faster, but you also get enough HP and Summoning xp to more than justify the extra cost (for this reason, Rock Lobsters are hands-down the best place to train magic, ALWAYS, unless both HP and Summoning xp is worthless to you). If you are doing the bonus xp weekend, this option is theoretically the best, since you get bonus xp in 3 skills. You could Plankmake, which is roughly DOUBLE the xp with a similar or lower cost and the same number of clicks per hour (a little more concentration, though). You could String Jewelry, which is more expensive, but so easy that it's practically the only efficient method of training magic that can truly be "afk"'d. You have Superheat Item, which far outclasses alching, that you can utilize until you unlock one of the higher options. You could make Hunter Kits, which function as pretty nice junk if you have a rising that you can sell to compensate. Conclusion, there is absolutely NO reason to alch unless you can't stand ANY of your better options. ~It's Super Effective! Zaaps1
Well think about it like this. What are the chances you are going to leave your Summoning level at 1 or 4 or whatever it is? I'm going to say VERY unlikely, since Summoning is such a useful kill, you'll probably end up leveling it at one point or another, if not for training probably for a quest like Nomad's Requiem or future releases, or just the urge to be a more efficient boss hunter. So if you burst rock lobsters now, you'll have all those pretty charms to use later. This way, later you won't have to spend those hours upon hours of getting charms, because they're already there. Not to mention you'll probably get ~90 HP in the process. ~It's Super Effective! foursideking
Honestly, if you wanna train mage during the XP weekend, I saw a tai-bwo-wannai-trio mahog/plank make guide that'd eaaaasily get you 1m xp during the weekend....
Surprise
It comes down to whether you think summoning or smithing is more useful...
Zaaps1
It comes down to whether you think summoning or smithing is more useful... Not necessarily. It depends on your playstyle. If you want to play to achieve what YOU want and have fun by doing what you WANT to do, yes, it'll come down to whether you want summoning xp or smithing xp more. But if you want to play efficiently and have fun knowing that you are achieving far more than the average player and end up with better stats and more money in the same amount of time, then there is no question. Summoning is more useful. ~It's Super Effective! Troacctid
Ive gone with gold rather than iron for the better smithing xp. Will see what levels I have after Ive done.Okay, but make sure you're doing iron during the bonus xp, since gold loses that advantage when gauntlets stop working. Sir_Kurity
I can see it good if it somehow ended up like herblore, but, HOW would it end up like herblore. Unless it was something stupid like crafting untradeable awesome armors, but that would kind of kill the rest of the armors and cause epic crashs. Herblores different because every pot is constantly used and it doesnt really "replace" anything but old potions. O.O

What could happen: Armor/Weapon Enhancement Strange-name-of-new-type-of-metal-bar -> anvil = strange-name-of-sigil-as-a-product strange-name-of-sigil-as-a-product + rune platebody = Enhanced Rune Platebody Then just triple the thing's stats and there we go. ~It's Super Effective!
