Just about 20 minutes ago, a strange blue screen with a bunch of numbers and letters popped up for maybe .5 seconds, and restarted my pc. It did this for about 10 times, until I finally logged on Windows. Now I need a way to get rid of it, in-case it comes back.

my cpmputer dose that as well but i dont get the blue screen that you say that you get. Mine jst restarts and then makes the cd drive open on its own. By cd drive i mean were ya put the cd incase ya did i confussed ya a little bit.

Scan for a virus ;).

if you have 2k/XP... make sure you have it do a system dump.. that might help as well

Windows XP doesn't do this by default, it just restarts the computer if Windows encounter's an error it cannot recover from. To tell Windows to dump the memory (and display information in a blue screen) you need to follow these steps.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Right click your My Computer icon on your desktop (or in your Start Menu) and select Properties from the dropdown menu. On the window that opens select the Advanced tab then click the Settings button under Startup and Recovery.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Then untick the Automatically restart checkbox and select Complete memory dump from the button dropdown menu. This is shown in the image below. Click Ok then restart your computer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You can then report to us information found in the blue screen Stop error message. Any information relating to files (might be a .dll or [Caution: ExecutableFile] file) would be helpful in finding out what the cause is.

Overheating CPU maybe? Mine restarts when the temp gets too high, Maybe faulty PSU? When it restarts go into the BIOS and go to pc health and check the system temp and CPU temp, Maybe its all dusty between the processor and the heatsink? If so buy a can of compressed air and blow it out.
