Change your name

Featured Replies

I made my character about 4 years ago, and since then i got a little annoyed with my name. So heres my suggestion: You are allowed to change your name (say only once a year).

The only problem i see with this is that it would be hard for jagex to introduce this into the system (i can think of numerous problems that would arrise from this). Despite all that i still think it would be really cool to be able to change your characters name because think about it, what if your character was named something like "pikachu48" and you don't like pokemon anymore! (my name has nothing to do with pokemon by the way)

Anyway im gonna stop rambling, i just think it would be cool to be able to change your name...thats all

I Agree Too Let You Change ur name 1nce/2years

Cause alot of people will be lined up for zezimas name

And also how would the frineds list go with this? u would have to start ur frined all over again

good point about ppl lining up to copy higher lvl's names, never thought of that. I still like the idea though.

thought about this too. it was the whole reason i got a new account from my first account. i dont think its very plausible though

I think it would be a nightmare to try to program that for millions of people all trying to change their names to something "cooler" when really if you think about it most of the general ideas of "cool" have already been taken, so whatever you changed it to would likely end in at LEAST 2 numbers because of the repetition. Your friends list would be a mess, suddenly all of the names are changed and you have no idea who was who and who really is who and who says that they are who but really are not who, and you wonder just who is who? Yeah.

Dumb Example, but my example anyways:

It's just.. not plausible. Not safe to think about. Not.. comprehendable about the chaos that this would cause.

Changing your name would be simple for Jagex to impliment. All they have to do is add another field to every players account to keep track of the old name. I did a quick calculation and discovered it would only add about 50 MB to the size of the database for 4 million players, so the space they need is not an issue. As for the friends list all they have to do is put the old name in brackets after the new name, so everyone will be able to figure out who the people on their lists are.

But that way, people who have a bad name in the game or are hunted can just change their name and start over with a clean slate. It is also, as people said, confusing.

I'd just like to change my forum name to my Runescape name (Cubed Boid).

My RS name is fine and I think changing it might ruin what little reputation I already have.
