Ezkaton
A 229 Spirit Mage task? Just wondering really..... Will be wearing: FSHFuryProsy TopArdy Cape 2/Fire CapeProsy BottomD BootsBarrow GlovesSara Sword (Training strength to 90 now attack is there)Zammy Arrow in quiver. So with that I'm just wondering how many prayer pots I'd need with a holy wrench to get through all these. ALSO would it be worth taking a familiar of any kind? Though mages die really quickly..... Reacting impulsively and saying what's on your mind feels oh so good.. for a little, until you realize you just started WWIII.2672nd person to reach 2496 total. Thanks to Wicked for the awesome siggy :D
AndJusticeForOne
Will you be praying Piety as well as protection?
Mischlings
Well, assuming about 45 minutes for the task, 70 prayer, 20 prayer bonus, no holy wrench... 22.5 prayer potion doses for protect from magic. If you decide to use Superhuman strength (10% prayer), that would be another 11.25 doses. 45 would cover you for piety for the entire task. So, to answer the question, 6 with just protect from magic, 9 with protect from magic and superhuman strength, 17 for protect from magic and piety. Of course, I would take a few extra potions just in case -- you don't want to risk running out of prayer. As for a familiar, it can be helpful, but ultimately isn't all that necessary. Combat familiars die surprisingly quickly to the mages and the mages die too fast for the familiar to do all that much damage. EDIT: I just noticed that I used the wrong prayer bonus (you'd have 22, not 20), but the difference is only about 6.7%, so it's not that large. The numbers I posted above are slight overestimates, which is a good thing here. Ezkaton
Thank you very much for that! However it raises another question! :P is it worth pietying Spirit Mages then? Mischlings
It's probably worth it to piety everything in slayer -- however, for some assignments (like spiritual mages), I go with superhuman strength since I don't feel like piety is needed (you hit a lot on spiritual mages as it is -- how much more accuracy do you need?) and piety is a large money drain. So it is worth it, I just prefer not to use it as I don't feel it's necessary. Ezkaton
Yeah I was thinking that. I do cannon or piety all my tasks. So Superhuman strength it is then. Sorry for 1 last question - but super set? well, attack and strength, I have enough defence :P Reacting impulsively and saying what's on your mind feels oh so good.. for a little, until you realize you just started WWIII.2672nd person to reach 2496 total. Thanks to Wicked for the awesome siggy :D
Mischlings
Super sets are one of those things that you should always use on slayer tasks. Interestingly enough, if you can get some Zamorak Brews, use those in place of Super Attacks -- they give a slightly higher attack boost (1 or 2 points) which most people don't know about -- the loss in hp and defence is meaningless since you're praying. Ezkaton
Oooooooh thank you very much for that tip! Much appreciated! :D Hmmm now to decide between Sara and Zammy mages. Mischlings
Zamorak mages, definitely. Also, if you use Zamorak brews, they restore a small amount of prayer each dose that you take. Another thing that most people don't know. I would still bring the same number of prayer potions to the task, however. purekilljoy
I always use a combat familiar there as well, maybe it's just me, but if you can save time even say by 20 spiritual mages for the whole task, that's definately time for a herb farming lap, which is always nice. I use an obsidain golem, cause my summoning is low, I set the quick option to call and every time I engage a mage, I call my golem (otherwise they tend to get stuck pretty easily there, depending where you're kiling them), and they do hit sometimes, so it is nice, per task i use 1-2 golems. Stommel
When i do Zamorak spiritual mages and get to my 40 KC I use the altar in the boss room to recharge my pray (providing people are killing the boss, i go in between respawns). Sometimes you get the 40 KC before the time limit for re-using the altar is up though. I actually find i only need about 5-7 doses when i do this, 40 KC isn much there Join "DGS" Guest Clan Chat for Dungeoneering Floors | Accepting all tipiters who are Willing to Learn
Madouge
Remember your falador shield if you have it for the prayer restore. Also, if like me you begrudge sacrificing your prayer points to get to the zamorak area, you can use them all up in the sara area first. Click the pic if you wanna see a Ranged Slayer blog.
