Chaosbringer
Basically, during Year 11 and 12, you have your subjects, and you sit your final exams, and they are marked out of 50, you get 4 subjects taken at full value, then 1 subject at 15% I believe and another at 10%. These are all calculated into you "Enter" score, which is what generally determines which Uni you will go to. Enters are graded on the entire year level and students, so its more of a percentage then anything else I guess. The highest a person can get is 99.95 which means that your generally in the top 30 or so out of 75 thousand other people. If you wanted to be a doctor or lawyer, you'd need to get in the high 90's. And the Enters we're just released today, thus spawning the topic. ~Chaosbringer Edited : Got the numbers wrong, 99.95 is actually top 32 people this year (Highest ever infact) out of 75 thousand year 12 students. But all the rest is pretty much spot on.
cloud_nz23
oh man, nz got this NCEA system, every1 says it sucks You have three levels and you must gain a certain number of credits at each lvl to pass, i think they r 60 for Yr11 and 80 for Yr12 and 13 You also gottta include 8 numeracy and 8 literacy credits or something aswell.... we got internal assesments which are worth creds altho they are small like 2 or 5....depending. You cant pass on them only so every1 has to sit external exams at the end of the year. Sorry, if I have invaded a AUS discussion...I just hate NCEA (we get our results in January which is the g*yest) <~[ FLAME_ON!! ]~>on/off RSplayer since 2000

weezcake
This test is the main determinant in what college you're going to? :? That seems kind of unfair. ==================================Retired tip.it moderator.Teaching and inspiring.
____
This test is the main determinant in what college you're going to? :? That seems kind of unfair. It's not like that. The majority of your result is based on your school grades. It is slightly different to what I went through but Chaos got it down fairly well. Your school subjects make up the bulk of the result. Although for me I could've filled in nothing on the QCS test and still gotten an OP of 12 (which is like rank / Enter of 75 iirc). Next to no influence, but Vic seems to be structured differently since I graduated so it is more important :P

Sorry, if I have invaded a AUS discussion...I just hate NCEA (we get our results in January which is the g*yest) It's four levels, NA not achieved, A achieved, M merit and E excellence. The year levels in NZ are difference to those of Aus, it's either one year higher or one year lower(propably the later) but I don't really care about it enough to make sure. To pass it's 80 credits for y11, 60 credits for y12 and I don't really know for y13. For yr11, if you have 80+ credits you can transfer those to yr12 up to a maxium of 20 credits, which means you'll only need 40 credits to pass unless you're a complete idiot. that's all I can remember at the moment about this...
