Magic Training

I'm back after having left for a year or so, and now I'm wondering: What's the current best way to train magic. I know High Alch has been the best for a while, but what should I high alch? If high alching isn't the best anymore, what is?

Alching hasn't been good since mud staves.

At your level, try the lowest high-level curse spell (level 66 iirc) then move up to the level 73 curse, then move up to the level 80 curse. All these use only one soul rune per cast, provided you use a mud staff. Move your spell menu over your target so you can keep alternating click and f4.

Where should I be cursing?

You can do it pretty much anywhere where there's a safespot. A lot of people do it over the Wilderness ditch on the skeletons.

Pretty much, just wear melee armour (such as rune) and get the weakest magic bonus you can get. Yes, your goal is to make sure you fail every spell attempt.

My goal is to fail? I CAN DO THIS.

Good negative mage items are vambraces (-10) and snakeskin boots (also -10). With that, a platebody (-30), and platelegs (-21, or -31 for granite), and a shield (obsidian -12, granite -12, fremminik round -10). Your mud staff adds +10, your total should be around -70.

Lol

On top of the already suggested methods, superheat is still a solid choice, even moreso if you're also looking for smithing xp.
