October 27, 201015 yr Well I'm the type of person that just hates to train any skill that's both slow xp and low profit, so based on what options are currently available to me, I despise the runecrafting skill. I recently remembered that I hadn't been using the Tears of Guthix minigame and that at my levels it would give me RC experience, so I trod to Lumbridge, grab my Seers' headband 3, and head on through the hole in the wall, making my way to the snake in a cave. I tell a story and enter to collect my water, and avoid what I consider as toxic waste. As the blue stream I'm catching dries out, I click to move to the next stream and nothing happens; I continue to click periodically over the course of a half minute, and still nothing is happening. It is at this point that the "connection lost" message finally rears its ugly head. I figure that, as normal, it's no big deal and it's just a minor inconvenience for the course of a few seconds. At this point my screen blanks, so I close my browser and reopen it. I figured that, like with combat, if you lose control of your character, they eventually time you out, you usually end up safe and in the same location, and you just get back to life as normal once you log back in. Apparently the devs either don't expect you to be able to lose connection during this minigame, or else they just don't want it to be a regularly received experience benefit. Upon getting back into the game, I find myself with a paltry 1k exp gain in rc and being told I can play the minigame again in 6 days (really 7 but that snake seems to be hellbent on being literal and never saying that 24 hours, +/- a few minutes, is a day.) TL;DR: make sure you have a good connection to your server when you're going to play Tears of Guthix, unless the experience doesn't matter to you all that much. If you drop connection for any reason, you cannot get your wasted time or wasted potential experience back. Oh and if anybody decides to go all RSOF on this thread and reply with "U mad bro?", the answer you'll receive is a short and simple "[bleep] yes." (Yeah, the extra 2k xp makes that much difference to me, lol.)
October 27, 201015 yr Um.... not much to say other then "that sucks." Not surprised. Would be nice I guess, some kind of fail-safe where you get kicked out of ToG if you lose connection, get no tears and doesn't use your weekly tears. But maybe Jagex is worried people would abuse that if they got low scores? Eh, they probably don't consider it important. Either way, that sucks. And, um, since when is rc BOTH low exp and profit? Exp, yes, but it's fairly profitable. Not that many forms of skilling are VERY profitable, but RC *IS* one of the more profitable skills last I checked.... Not that I blame you for wanting to ToG it though. Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.[spoiler=The rest of my sig. October 27, 201015 yr Author It's not really that it's not a profitable skill, I just don't have access to any method of it that makes enough money per hour for me to want to train it yet is all.
October 27, 201015 yr I used to look forward to ToG. But with effigy candy falling out every slaver monster's ass nowdays, this weekly event has lost much of its shine. Coupling that along with the XP going to Dung (for no tokens) has pretty much destroyed this diversion for me. If I remember to do it, I'll go give it a run, but it's not something on my must-do list anymore. October 31, 201015 yr It's not just Tears of Guthix - when you lag out in any minigame, the game treats you as if you forfeited and you get penalties and such. I hope there's a rejoin feature for all activities... Then again you can improve your internet. That's what I want to do to, if I knew how. November 10, 201015 yr Something like this happened to me while fighting Bork, if I remember correctly. It's certainly upsetting but it's not completely overhauling my gameplay experience. I don't mind waiting for a fix, but I would like to know if one is coming. It is something that should be addressed.
