Training Dungeoneering

Ok...I got a question for all Dungeoneers. What is the best way to train Dungeoneering? Honestly, I'm more interested in tokens than in leveling, but since 1 is based on the other, I guess it really doesn't matter. I'm looking for the best/fastest way to train Dungeoneering.I've solo's 26 floors and went with a group on 1 floor. Since I've only done a group once (5 people, 5:5, C6, Large) it's hard for me to say if it's better to do a small dungeon fast, or a large dungeon slower.

I've seen a LOT of different opinions; Big groups, small groups, solo, max complexity, low complexity it's faster, always max floor size, do a group on a small floor (again for speed), kill everything, just get to the boss, check every room, only open the door to every room but don't waste time on deadends, use all resources, just get it done, etc etc etc. What I'm basically looking for is options.

If possible, could you give me reasons/examples of why your way works over another way. Thanks a million

Do like your 5 highest available floors 5:5 larges, and do the 10 highest when you reach even higher floors. Something of that matter at least :P

Dragon drops: 82 (2 claws)

Dagannoth kings drops: 73

Barrows item count: 51

GWD drops: 54 (5 hilts: 1x bandos, 3x saradomin, 1x zamorak)

Whips: 4

Sigils: 1x spectral (FFA), 1x arcane (FFA)

The best way to train is to get 4 other people who know what they're doing (probably impossible at your level, sorry) and do your 5 highest floors with them on c6 5:5 large. Your focus should be to get through the dungeon in as little time as possible while still opening every door. Number of monsters killed is negligible for how it affects your exp, so don't bother clearing out the floor. Making armor is generally a waste of time, you should instead always be working on getting the floor done- inspect the keyer's inventory (the keyer is the guy with all the keys) to find out what key's he's got and then find the doors for him. When you find one, drop a gatestone there (3 cosmic runes), tell him to drop the key at the ggs and then teleport there, and then gatestone teleport back and open the door. If everyone does this you can compensate for your keyer knowing jack about keying, which is likely at your level. You can also learn to key yourself after you get some experience doing large dungeons- that can speed you up a lot if there's nobody else around who can key.

More often than not you'll find that other people won't be helpful. Sorry, that's how the skill works until you're very high level. At least you'll actually make it to high level if you do this, though- most of them probably won't.

The rest of the floors you c1 5:1 small rush. You call for this saying "c1s." You just power through everything from f1 to 5 below your highest floor as quickly as possible. You don't need food from the start room, just rush. You get the hang of this quickly, it's quite easy.

I agree with Green, but also at your level I recommend going into each large dungeon with the goal of not dying. Until you're higher level with smarter team members, I suggest just making armour for the sake of staying alive. I find the best times to do this are usually when your team has stumbled on a puzzle. As soon as you feel like you can take on anything (or get a Shadow Silk Hood bound), then I'd start trying to key as fast as you can. The right binds go a long way for a good DG'er, and nobody is going to not give you food if you're the keyer.

An alternative is to play completely solo. I do the lowest floors C1, then C6 small, and the last 6-10 floors C6 medium. Given all the horror stories I've heard about W117 teams, this might be a much more reliable way to train. (The medium floors in the 20s give 6-9K base experience, which comes out to 5.5-11K with modifiers, and takes 30-55 minutes.)

PS On a related note, how can I find a team for a single floor? (I am 21K XP from next level, but have only one floor left, which is about 10K on medium. Or is it better to just do that floor 3 times, instead of looking for a W117 team?)

Huh? The only thing you'll see on 117 is people going for single floors. They advertise the floor they're starting.

Definitely don't do one floor three times to get a level- you'll get no prestige bonus for it, which generally works out to be less than half of what you'd normally be getting. Just reset when you finish all floors and get the levelup the next prestige run.

I never tried W117, so I didn't know that those teams are 1 level at a time. I guess I'll try it, to see if it's as bad as people say.

Hmm...that's a lot of good info, thanks all :). The one team I did go with flew through pretty quick...they were rather high level actually so I guess I got lucky but they definitely knew what they were doing. I felt like such a noob lol. With them, they had 1 guy that was making armour for everyone (and fighting when he could). It was nice because I was able to get and bind some items that I couldn't make myself. They cleared everything and we got 21k xp from a C6 5:5 Large floor. I might try and look those guys up again.

for 21k exp, just do penguins. That's how I'd level if I were that close anyway. :)

To be honest, it's not entirely bad. You will in general not find any extraordinary amazing dg gurus, but on the whole I've found most people to be at least somewhat competent. The "horror" stories are often from people slightly exaggerating a somewhat less than pleasant experience. People tend to talk about the bad or good things that happen to them; you'll seldom find comments like "Oh I dg'd with a random dude and it was a completely average dg experience"
