rocko510
I posted this on the RSOF and I want some feedback from this community. Quick Find Code: 188-189-564-61895675 *I do not know to much about private servers so if this cannot be done then I guess I just wasted my time. Since most players are probably longing for the runescape of 2007 why not try private servers? Ok, so there would be five typs of servers: 1) Runescape Classic - Must be a member to play. 2) Runescape 2 F2P - At the moment right before the wild and trade limit update. 3) Runscape 2 P2P - At the moment right before the wild and trade limit update - Must be a member to play. 4) Present Runescape F2P - Can be updated to stay current with the actual game. 5) Present Runescape P2P - Can be updated to stay current with the actual game - Must be a member to play. Here is how this would work: -Anyone can download and setup a F2P server. -To download a P2P server you must to a member. -Each server could host around 200 people. -To play in someone's server you must have a runescape account in the main game and have that account registered to play to the server. -You CANNOT play with your main account on any server but the main game. -You can have multiple accounts per server, but you cannot use them in any other server but the one they were created in. -This means that to play in a server you must create an account for it. -Finally to play in a server the host must first allow you access. Ingame stuff: -Each server will have its own highscores and these accounts will not effect the highscores of the actual game. -The RS Classic servers will be the exact same game as they were when RS 2 came out. -The RS 2 servers will be at the day right before the major wild and trade limit update. -The current RS servers will be RS as it is today and can be updated as the real game updates. The host must download the update. -All GHRAPICS will stay the same as they were in each game. (So no RS HD ghrapics update for RS 2) Items: -All items will stay in there respective versions of runescape. EX: You cannot use a chaotic weapon in Classic or RS 2, only in the current version. -Banks will look the same as they did in each version, but they can hold the ammount that a bank can hold today. Holiday Items: -The Current RS servers with have all the holiday items. -The RS 2 Servers will have all Holiday items until the end of 2007. -The Classic servers will have only the holiday items that came out in its time. -All holiday items will be tradeable. -Dango will sell you holiday items instead of storeing them. -I don't know what price, but I feel that they should be priced from 5m-10m each in his store, because I feel like it is an achievement to earn one. Thanks for reading. 99 Cooking Since 10/19/10|99 Magic Since 2/13/11|Quest Cape Since April 2011
Gandorf61
Jagex originally planned to do this for Runescape Classic but plans were scrapped due to having to charge players too much to host private servers. Somehow I don't think having 5 separate games with private servers is going to be more successful. Besides it's really not practical, server costs aside Jagex would have to have employees working for each type of server which would mean less updates for the current version of Runescape and support having to be spread out across what would essentially be 3 different games. As much as people want the old wildy and no trade limits, it's not going to be coming back even with ideas such as private servers. rocko510
I got the idea from fake rs games(which i've never played) and I thought if they could do it for free than why can't jagex? Also, imo there would be no RWT in it, because who would waste money for a private rs server that can only hold 200 people. 99 Cooking Since 10/19/10|99 Magic Since 2/13/11|Quest Cape Since April 2011
Crafty_Catch
Why not just add another server that is pre 07, so there would be a classic, pre 07 and the current one. I think that would be easier to do and more of a possibility.
Youmu
The question is, does Jagex keep a beta version of EVERY SINGLE UPDATE THEY MADE TO RS? That's why this won't work. Most likely Jagex always remove extremely outdated pieces of content (unless if it's something like RSC of course).
