Gatherer and Artisan Ring

Featured Replies

From the RSKB:

Skiller

* Medic - Increases the amount you heal other players

* Gatherer - Chance of extra resources and skill task damage reduction

* Artisan - Chance of saving resources and increasing rune production

However, I've read in multiple places (RSOF, Wiki, random conversations), that both the gatherer and artisan ring reduce skill skill task damage.

Right now I have a level 1 gatherer ring which I find a lot more useful than an artisan ring, but I have a few (possibly unanswerable questions):

1. So confirm or deny, does artisan ring have an effect on skill tasks as well?

2. Given that "skill doors" can be classified as gatherer and artisan skills (Although there are some like the strength bar or the summoning familiar that don't make sense), could the two different rings affect different skill doors, given they both have an effect?

3. Which of the two rings would be more useful? (I'm leaning towards the gatherer atm, even if they both reduce damage)

I wish there was a way to tell that damage was reduced. All these supposed damage absorbing/blocking items are always so difficult to tell if they worked or not.

Gatherer is far more useful in my eyes. I can't use a primal b axe so I can't use the tank ring setting, so gatherer suffices when I key, also comes in useful when you have nothing to do because you'll spend more time gathering than actually using material.

Those with a little bit of knowledge are more dangerous than those with none.

1. I can sorta confirm it. IF I remember right then when I was upgrading my ring and looking at the options it said skill door reduction on artisan's as well. I don't think I'm imagining it, but there is a ~5% chance I am (sleepy atm).

2. Never actually thought of classifying doors as "gatherer" or "artisan" skill doors. It almost makes sense that there's a difference.

3. If (big if because although it makes sense I doubt it works that way) the rings work like that, I'd think the class that's best for you depends on your stats. I tend to open up more artisan-like skill doors than gatherer skill doors so for me an artisan's would be best. For you, that depends on your stats/stats of people you dg with.

Both rings have the exact same effect on skill door damage.

That said, gatherer is infinitely superior. Mining ore for bloodragers, chopping wood for fires, and harvesting herbs are three very common activities that gatherer's ring helps with, and I don't believe it helps with any of the secondary actions that come afterwards.
