Some questions on various skills.

Featured Replies

So at the moment i am doins some Slayer, but i'll most likely to take a week or so break from Slayer soon as i reach 97. After that i'll fall back to skilling a bit for a while. I just have a few questions about the skills i plan on raising. First of all know that i'm not really worried about the most efficient way of training, but i am open to your idead and thoughts.

First of all i am going to do Woocdutting a bit. My aim is to do something i can use later. That's why i have decided to stick to Mahogany. I can use the logs later and raise my Construction. I did some calculations and if i use the logs later i can get to 14.5m exp without SC hammer and about 22.5m exp with sc Hammers. So i am pretty safe for a 99 regardless of what i use. I'll probably try throw in a few hammers just to shorten the time duration and to save a few planks. I know a lot of people will say Mahogany is a bad way, but i get about 45k exp which is pretty fast. Also the logs that i have left over after 99 Con can go into some FM exp.

Then for Mining i plan on doing Concentrated Gold soon a i get 80 (79 at the moment) and then superheating/smelting the ores i get into gold bars. The bars wll be used for crafting. This way i raise 3 skills without spending any money. Now, is it better to Superheat the gold ore, or will i be better of smelting them at a furnace with Gold Smith Gauntlets? I can probably smelt around 1k bars an hour, right?

My ideal is to the use the bars for Crafting but i don't really know what would be the best thing to make. Obviously since i paid nothing for my supplies i wont mind any method of Crafting training as long as i don't end up wasting the bars. I was thinking of making them into gold amulets seeing as this is what most people tend to use for magic training (string jewelery).

Doing this i train 6 skills (in the long run) where my intention was only to train 3.

Is this an efficient way of doing it? (not looking for the MOST efficient, but i don't want to kill rats and busry bones when i would be better off killing hill giants and burying bones.)

No idea about the woodcutting/construction when costs are considered, but you'd need a good amount of SC hammers. No problem if you like the minigame, though.

You can superheat WHILE smelting the gold ore. Make sure to use varrock armour and goldsmithing gauntlets and let the animation completes, then it won't interrupt the smelting. Same goes for mining the ore. You can superheat it while mining.

As for the gold bars, making amulets is a small profit, even if you buy the bar. Sell them for like 110 ea (haven't checked prices recently). Or if you like fast magic exp, string them yourself end sell the strung amulets to the rogue trader in varrock.

Efficiency-wise, it's not the best (enter efficiency police) but I'd prefer it as it is less grinding and combining skills.

Yeah a friend of mine actually told me about the Superheating while mining things. I am yet to try it but if it works i think i'll probably do that. Although that involves some grinding, somthing i am trying to avoid. I'd much rather take a week longer to reach my goal than do something i dont enjoy.

Last time i checked i think i needed about 170 more sc hammers for 99 Con. Or maybe it was 2k points. I can;t quite remember. Anyway i enoy the minigame but not so much that i can get all the hammers i need in one go. So i was thinking maybe get a few hammers just to help out a bit. Seeing as i won't really need the hammers to get 99 i rally am just gettng them to speed it up a bit.

You can also use plank make while chopping mahogany. If you would buy and sell the materials for GE price, and use an earth staff, it's 28 gp profit and 90 magic xp per plank according to this.

On the basis that you need 8,791,485xp to achieve 99 Construction, and each SC hammer gives 50,750xp's worth regardless of the plank before crumbling, you'll need 174 hammers, or 3480 Stealing Creation points. If we say each 1fastSC game lasts 13 minutes and gives 22/23 points (22.5 for argument's sake), it would take 34 hours of 1fastSC to get the hammers you need.

It might be better to sell the mahogany logs/planks, and buy teak planks instead. Check the xp/gp rates for teak and oak before doing it because they're about similar but fluctuate.

Goldsmith gauntlets works with Superheat Item, so you can smelt as you mine:

When worn, the gauntlets increase the Smithing experience gained when smelting gold bars from 22.5 to 56.2. [...] Casting the Superheat Item spell on a gold ore whilst wearing the gauntlets gives 56.2 Smithing experience and 53 Magic experience

Though in my honest opinion (not stats), goldsmithing is so relatively slow compared to dragonhides w/SC needle that you could easily make up the money for the higher expenses on the latter method with the time saved.

Yes, making amultes form gold bars is slow. I did it in order to get the shattered heart fragments for a while.

So anything else i can do with the amulets instead? Make something from them that isnt as slow? I'm really just looking for anything above 50k exp an hour.
