Best Ring to Use?

Featured Replies

I was just wondering what ring I should be using for any combat (melee) training, especially for slayer? I am not shelling out the millions for a beserker, but I was thinking about getting a warrior's ring? I am using a whip, so the slash could help, but is there something else I could get that would be more useful? Also, no mobilizing armies. :P

Try this ring from dungeon skill - ring of vigour or how its called - just need to get some tokens for it. Of course if you wont spend money for zerker which is best u can use for slay and later enchant it via mobilising armies avtivity.

Imbued onyx ring would be the best but as you can't afford a berserker ring, I suppose you also can't afford an onyx ring :(

To be honest, I never found a warrior ring any worthwile, I'd rather just wear a slayer ring, duel ring or ring of life than a warrior ring.

Maybe you should just make a little money to get a berserker / onyx ring?

Wow is the beserker ring really worth it? I don't really want to play mobilizing armies for the onyx ring....but if I did how long would that take?

zerker (i) is better than an onyx (i) in nearly every conceivable situation.

if op doesn't want to buy a zerker, then a warrior is second best. in the time he'd spend collecting tokens for a vigour, he could make the money for a zerker, so vigour is out.

Hm maybe I should consider getting a zerker then...

A zerker ring is very much worth it. It should be one of the first (if not the first) expensive pieces of equipment that you ever buy.

It should take about 25-30 hours to get 300 rank in MA. Do it while you're doing homework or something. That's what I did.

Hm ok. Too bad it is skyrocketing in price right now. : /

Get a diamond (i) ring. Only 100 MA rank, and more attack and defence bonuses then archer's, seer's and warrior's ring combined.

Dragon drops: 82 (2 claws)

Dagannoth kings drops: 73

Barrows item count: 51

GWD drops: 54 (5 hilts: 1x bandos, 3x saradomin, 1x zamorak)

Whips: 4

Slayer unless your outside of Kuradels dungeon is ferocious ring, then get a zerker. Currently sold mine for 96 summoning but I will buy back b4 claws

Out of curiosity, has someone worked it out whether an onyx ring (i) or berserker ring (i) has the best DPS? I have the feeling I train faster with increased accuracy than with increased strength, though haven't really timed it so don't take this answer for the sake of arguing.

Highly depends on the target. For slayer (somewhat low-very low defence) berserker (i) would be best. For Corp onyx (i) beats it by far.

Berserker (i) always offers more dps, on all defence, than onyx (i), assuming Grimy's dps calc is correct. Onyx would be better for hybrid/tribrid and the fact that you can't lose it much. Try looking at Grimy's spreadsheet thread, I think he explained it somewhere.

To the OP: a berserker ring is quite worth it. If you want to get an imbued ring, however, I recommend you do it NOW. The lower the levels at which you get it, the more time it will save you in the long run.

Get a diamond (i) ring. Only 100 MA rank, and more attack and defence bonuses then archer's, seer's and warrior's ring combined.

This is a good idea if you're poor. Not only will it ALWAYS be a great welfare ring when you don't want to risk something better, but it also gets you 100 MA rank out of the 300 you'll want some day. However, you should absolutely buy a zerker as soon as you can afford it, before a fury and DEFINITELY before Bandos armor. It gives a lot more str/gp than either of those items and for slayer outweighs the usefulness of the fury considering it's also like 1/3 the price. Fury should be next on your shopping list after zerker, though, as it's a LOT more gp effective for the stats than Bandos armor as well.

As for the onyx vs berserker (i) debate, berserker IS better for melee combat, speaking strictly offensively. The only place in the game one could make an argument for onyx offensively is corp, but really I'm pretty sure zerker has a (very very slight) advantage even there.

Onyx does have advantages though. Its protect value makes it ideal for corp, because you can keep it and still use good offensive gear, whereas stuff like barrows gloves protect over zerker. It's also a good hybrid ring, with +6 to magic and ranged as well as melees. Finally, it's good for defense, particularly magic (+6 magic defense is nothing to scoff at). A good choice for something like tanking Zammy for that reason.
