Fight Caves Jad - Tips?

So last night I went into the fight caves after reading the aow guide, got all the way up to jad via ranged in about an hour and a half, then promptly got killed without ever seeing him from the mage attack, I was listening for it but had my speakers down so people could sleep.

Any other tips to make my trip to jad faster/less expensive? Is summoning allowed/worth it? What familiars? (I have 61 atm).

Thanks in advance!

You can not take familiars into the fight caves. Another way to spot what attack Jad is using is looking at him(Requires you to see him ofc). When he stomps, a range attack is coming, when he does not it's a magic attack. A tactic can be: keep mage prayer on, change to range when he stomps.

That's all the help I can give. Good luck!

Hearing his attacks is critical until you see him. I've died the first few times i've tried him because my mind is just a jumble when he spawns. And I'm not able to switch prayers right according to the sound.

Remember: Keep range prayer on, and if you hear the retribution sound, turn on mage prayer. As soon as you see the blue shield pop up on you, switch back to range prayer. The key is to stay calm and not get the retribution sound mixed up with the explosion(Or actually i think they changed it to a gravel-ish sound now) sound that the rock from the range attack makes. I made this mistake and it is still what keeps me from getting the cape.

Good luck to the both of us. I'll be attempting for my cape again later this week.

I would recommend meleeing the caves (as I always do, lol) or at least that you try it. When I went for Jad as a level 100 or something, it took me so long and so much in brews/restores that I just hated starting it, because it was just really boring. Now that I melee the caves (and gained 20 combat levels, granted) it's twice as fast and, in my opinion, less of a problem to die at Jad because I wasted less time.

If you melee the caves you kite the 360's. To kite a 360, stand one space away from the monster, right-click it, select attack, and click when you see the start of the magic attack animation. Once your attack animation starts, move one square away. Repeat. You would use ordinary slayer gear (switching fsh to neit if not on task, of course, and I'd recommend a soul wars cape over ardy 3/fire).

You can still range Jad, of course.
