Hi All

Is Smelting gold ore at Port Phasmatys furnace using Goldsmiths Gauntlets a good way to go from

80 to 99 ?

I believe the Edgeville furace-bank is closer, but dont quote me on that.

The irony!

But yes edgeville is closer and you should have at least the level 2 armor which lets you smith faster which is huge in the long fun from 80-99.

Could speed up training by superheating some ore also.

Though slower than some methods, gold is one of the cheaper ways to train smithing at reasonable speed, so yes.

As for the location, the Edgeville furnace (as noted above) is a better alternative for the Port Phasmatys one.

If you can, superheating or superheating while smelting is great for extra speed, and wielding varrock armour will also give a chance of smelting several bars at the same time.
