Tormented Demons

I was thinking of heading over to TDS just to have some fun, and I was wondering what the top-tier setup is nowadays.

I have access to a CLS, chaotic rapier and chaotic crossbow. I also have the tokens to buy one more chaotic, so if I should use a maul or cks, I can get that immediately.

I have overloads, but since I would rarely need the brew, wouldn't it be better to use extremes?

I have turm and SS, is it worth it to always turm when I'm meleeing? Should I buy rigour and do Piety/rigour instead. I also heard for using SS so the demons don't switch prayers as often. Can someone explain that?

I have a steel titan. Use it, or yak?

As far as buyable items go, I'd be willing to buy bandos, I guess. I have arma already and melee/range barrows. Dragon Defender and Zammy Book are in as well. Guess I could use crystal shield/blessed spirit shield as well.

No way in hell am I getting a Divine or Ely though. I can't afford those.

Oh yes, and I'll be soloing.

One last thing, which spot is best?

EDIT: Oh yes, claws as a spec weapon? Or EEE?

How experienced are you at TDs? If you're just beginning, I'd recommend you bring Karils top and bottom and a neitiznot, along with cls + defender and a rune crossbow to start with. You will risk a chaotic crossbow if you bring it, so only do that once you're comfortable there.

Whether you use OVL or xpots is up to you, it really doesn't matter. OVL will save a lot of room, though.

They only switch attack styles when you block a certain number of attacks with your prayers. By switching to SS when they are using Melee, which is by far their least accurate style, they will remain on melee until they die or you step out of melee distance or of course, you pray against Melee for a few attacks. Also, turmoil is superior to piety/rigour.

I'd recommend claws over EEE when you get some experience. A pony is vastly superior to a Steel Titan for beginners, as well. However, you can get an amazing amount of kills per hour with a Steel Titan, provided you know what you're doing.

Once you get experience, I also recommend using Void. Mage defense makes a big difference here, but ranged defense barely helps at all.

Thanks for all the advice, guys!

I've been to TDS extensively in the past, but that was always with less-than-optimal gear. Last time I was there, I was using prayers with a unicorn, karils top/verac skirt, super sets, and flashing piety along with using protection prayers.

I actually haven't been there for a while, so I suppose I should go back to the basics at least for a trip or two. But I guess what I'm trying to say is that I have experience killing TDS, so risking valuable items doesn't bother me. I'm confident that I can stay alive.

If I am going to do the SS method, should I just max out my melee defenses? Or should I just slap on Melee Void? Should I bother with range at all?

Will also take a look at that vid and see what I learn from it.

Tds have a fairly inaccurate melee attack which maxed below 200. I'd say void deflector, black hide + defender etc. should be enough defence.

Tds have a fairly inaccurate melee attack which maxed below 700. I'd say void deflector, black hide + defender etc. should be enough defence.

I assume Maul would also be best, then? Since it lets you SS flash the easiest?

If you can switch well, rapier is better. Also I fixed my post lol, it maxed below 700 for sure but I mean 200 :P.

Yeah you had me scared there for a moment, but I realized that I never once got high for quite that high.

Ok, I'll try using the rapier and see how it goes.

Ah, I see. So I'm probably going to go on a trip tomorrow or the day after. Here's my plan.

Going to switch prayers until it's locked into melee, then I will SS flash. I'll use the spot in the video Obt posted.

For armor, I'll bring armadyl top and verac skirt. I know there's dragonhide that would probably work well, but since I already have it, I might as well use it. Idk, I'll play around with the top and bottom and see what I can get.

Helm is neitiznot. Gloves are barrows. Dragon Boots. Soul Wars Cape. Fury.

Berserker (i) or Dragonstone (i)? I never bothered with Onyx (i), so I don't have that.

Chaotic Rapier/Xbow with Dragon Defender.

EEE Spec weapon.

I'll bring a unicorn for now.

For my inventory, I'll bring Darklight, 2 overloads, 6 brews, house tab, 2 rocktails for emergencies, and rest ppots. Oh and uni scrolls.

Once I get back into it, I'll go Void, Claws, and Steel Titan.

Look good?

Yep looks good, I'd say acp isn't worth it at all as it has a melee penalty. Just go with black hide, as you need ranged offence more (ranged is the slow bit after all).

Really? And how many blocked attacks is it? I guess if I had made more trips that didn't consist of me not switching prayers in time and getting hit a few extra times and the panic that always ensued I might have noticed that...
