ccesssu
Is 99 range equavilent to 99 atk + 99 str? I was checking a combat calc and 99 range, hp, summoning, prayer, def doesn't put you at 138 like melee does...Is there is a difference in damage output? My friend said 99 range will get you into pvm clans, so I don't need high melee stats. Is this true? Just curious, since I love range and don't really care for melee. Slaykan
Well it will easily get you into sara and arma clans and maybe nex not sure about others though. Good Timber does not grow with ease, the stronger the wind, the stronger the trees. There is dignity in suffering, nobility in pain, but failure is a salted wound, that burns over and over again. MstrMonopoly
99 range + prayer + ovls + summon should be good for Nex. At Corp/Bandos/Sara/DKs you need some melee stats. I piety the fool.
Quyneax
Your combat level is based on defence + constitution + prayer + summoning one way, and either 1/2 your ranged level, 1/2 your magic level, or 1/3 of your attack level plus 1/3 of your strength level (whichever is higher). 99 ranged will usually have a lower damage output than 99 attack + strength (except on Kree'arra/aviansies, perhaps Nex, perhaps KQ first form etc.). A maxed tank, e.g. someone with 99 ranged, magic, defence, constitution, summoning and up to ~150 melee levels can do two bosses well: Nex and Kree'arra. Possibly you could try steel titan tding, using magic, but you'd still have to darklight. Duo tds should be quite possible though. ccesssu
Ok, looks like I'll have to melee too; bosses seem really limited for range..and I just realized there's no turmoil version for range in the ancient curses I'll drop the freakin' moon
Quyneax
It's the major weakness of curses (the lack of a good ranged damage boost). As for bosses being limited, this is true, however both Kree'arra and Nex are pretty good bosses for money, and Kree isn't too hard in a duo especially (just shoot and use unicorn scrolls & ppots). ghjkl
Void range hand cannon with extreme range pots and rigor is about as strong/accurate as a cls if I remember right.Range dps is quite underrated but the problem is that you need void for it to be basically any good.Void range arma top ccbow and diamond bolts is extremely accurate, but again you have low defense. Quyneax
But it has far less defence. I'm fairly sure tassets + karil's top + neit has around twice the defence of a void handcannon setup, and as such ranged really isn't viable on, say, Graardor, or any GWD boss (solo) because the ranged minion will hit you a lot.
