new to slayer

im just starting slayer im only lvl 39 so far. im 70 cmbt with 55 atk str def. and 52 pray. i wanna know the basics on what i need and quests. imma noob with hardly any quests completed. i make about 3-5 mill on saturdays doing barrow and thats about the extent of me gettin money. and please dont say i need all this 20 mil gp items and whatnot. im lvl 39 slayer. just some lower lvl advise please:)

Quest wise, at the very least you want to do smokin kills? to gain access to slayer rewards and the slayer helm.

Smoking Kills requires 85 combat to do. As slayer is much faster with a full slayer helm and the reward points to skip/block tasks I recommend training combat to 85 before continuing slayer

 

First on your priorities should probably 70 prayer and kings ransom for piety + the few combat levels 18 prayer levels will get you.

 

To make additional money, which you will need to get the most efficient methods of slaying throw in herb runs every ~1.5 hours between tasks. If you arent at the level for toadflax you can quest almost the entire way there to ~lvl 35. To maximize farming profit get a scroll of life and farming jujus as soon as you can (don't stress too much about jujus if you don't have the reqs, their usefullness is not as profound on herbs that arent ranarr/snaps/torstol).

 

As I anxiously await Q's infamous slayer post ill add that getting 60 attack for dragon equipment is huge, get the combination of 130 total str and attack and work on getting your defenders. Then once you've hit 70 str with your dragon scimmy get 70 attack for a whip.

The base slayer gear is as follows (alternatives in brackets):

• [For all slayer monsters except those mentioned under other weapons] Chaotic rapier (whip)
  
• Bandos body + legs (Verac's skirt with either fighter torso or proselyte top)
  
• [Depending on prayer/accuracy needs] Fire cape/Soul Wars cape/Ardougne cloak 3
  
• Barrows gloves (your best rfd gloves, at least rune)
  
• Dragon boots (rune boots)
  
• Amulet of fury (glory)

Slayer setups generally emphasise strength bonus, which increases the average damage of each succesful hit (slayer monsters usually having rather low defence, hitting is not a problem). Secondly, prayer bonus is important to keep the cost of prayer potions down (as you slay with piety on, to increase the speed of your kills. This is cost-effective and highly recommended). As a rule of thumb, +15 prayer bonus or above is good, but don't overdo it (anything above +25 is a waste). Defence and accuracy bonus are usually not fretted over (any defence bonus over 200 will do; if you get hit too often you should be using a protection prayer). Dagganoth, black demon, lesser demon, hellhound, bloodveld and spectre tasks should be cannoned, as it dramatically increases xp rates (although it costs a bit).

 

Some notes on gear: You'll want a fury and a berserker ring before you get bandos plate, and get that before tassets. You'll want accuracy bonus on higher-levelled dragons; if using stab attacks (which you should) you can use the Ardougne cloak 3 which provides you with +6 stab and +6 prayer bonus. Torso + sw cape and fire cape + proselyte are common cheap top/cape combinations; the former is better.

 

Some levels to get for slayer (in approximate order but I'm not sure on the summoning):

• 68 summoning - bunyip
  
• 81 dungeoneering (you need 2 million xp, which takes you to level 80, but allowing some tokens for the scroll of life) - rapier
  
• 89 herblore (85 with a +4 stew boost) - extreme potions, superantifires
  
• 95 prayer - turmoil and soul split
  
• 88 summoning - unicorn
  
• 96 herblore (91 with a +5 stew boost) - overload
  
• 99 summoning - steel titan
  

I'm sure I missed something but this is most of it.

Anyway that post assumes you have Smoking Kills done, and that you have a whip. I highly recommend not slaying until Smoking Kills, as the black mask/focus sight/hexcrest can't be used on some tasks (spectres, dusties). Basically what tieszen said.
