Rare drop alert

This suggestion works like this. When you get a rare drop, a yellow arrow will pop up indicating where the rare drop is. The arrow is like when you do Orb-scans (elite clue), but to make it less work for Jagex, the arrow appearing on minimap is enough.

So the meaning of this suggestion is to alert a player about rare drops. For example Dragon claws, Hilt, and so on.

Now this is not needed in many places, because you can easily see the drop. But at places like for example Chaos cave, where you get Dragon pickaxe, when you cannon in there, you tend to have over 30+ drops.

And drops can appear everywhere in the cave, so you have to check all red dots on minmap for Dragon pickaxe. I would appreciate if Jagex somehow could make a update that makes it easier to find out if you got a rare drop or not.

I bet many people will now critize this idea and say it's no need for it. Well to me, a very simple change like this would be very great. It's compareable to when you do Barrows and open the puzzle door, you got attacked. But then Jagex made it so you couldn't be attacked, and everyone was so glad.

At places like Tormented demons, this idea is no good. But at monsters where i kill tons of em and a rare drop can be obtained, then it makes a huge difference.

If you can alert a player that he/she has gotten a rare drop, and it will be a simple task to make this happen, then why not do it?

You can still be attacked at barrows, it got maybe 15% easier to open the doors. But anyways i like the idea :)

My lame drops:
6 Effigys
1 D Med - 1 D Dagger
1 Verac's Helmet - 1 Guthan's Platebody

Thanks for support.

I really can't figure out if I should support or not. I might have liked to, but there's some issues that put me on the edge about something like this... :-k

First, how would Jagex determine what is a "rare drop"? Would it be based on their drop tables? Would it be based on money value? Would it be based on some kind of level requirement? :-s

Second, could something like this be potentially overpowered? Can it allow too many "rare drops" to enter the RuneScape economy, and therefore flood the market too much? :|

Third, how many arrows would be displayed at one time, should a player happen to have multiple items drop that are considered "rare drops"? If only one (or multiple) arrow(s), would it only display for the most recent "rare drop(s)" until picked up and then shift, or would it indicate the oldest "rare drop(s)" and then shift to the next least recent? :?

Basically, with an idea like this, you're really looking at giving the programmers at Jagex a major headache. This would not be a simple task to code into the game, even as a feature that had the option to not be active. :geek:

I'll wait for a response to my questions before deciding a final verdict on an idea/suggestion like this.

Expensive or special items D_V

Such as Dragon claws, Dragon pickaxe, Hilt, Dragon boots, Black mask, Abyssal whip, Ancient ceremonial robes, Torva and so on

Items that cost alot/or are "special" drops from a monster, or items that are so good to pick up that if you don't notice it you will go "DAaaaaaaaaaaaarn-.-".

Multiple arrows will appear on minimap. ONLY on minimap, the point is to alert a player about rare item, not point "Here it is!!!".

The arrow should last a fair amount of seconds.

It can't be hard to code something like this. They do actually have pretty good programmers at Jagex studios IMO..

Nice suggestion, but i wouldn't really like giant arrows flashing.

Something i could live with, and be useful at the same time would be a simple "red message" in the chatbox.

Maybe similar to the "your antifire potion is about to run out".

I admit i have missed a few whips before now when browsing the web and not paying much attention to the drops. :ohnoes:

I support the 'Chat message'

Something like lootshare, all drops appear in chat (you can turn it on/off)

This does seem like a decent plan but as some people stated above - it's going to be hard to implement.

Plus, if somebody is actually concentrating on playing RS and they find a drop - they deserve it.

However, if you're just afk fighting and you get a whip and you miss it - that's your fault.
