Georgelemmons
The subscription that came with my computer has about a month left, so I'm looking for a free alternative. I know my options, but I'd like your opinions on the best. Right now I'm leaning towards Avira. Thanks to Uno for the awsome sig <
Quorra
I suggest Avira.
Gandalf14141
I have AVG on my laptop, but my dad was telling me about a program with a slightly odd name, so I'm assuming that Avira might be it. Finally on here to update that I have officially quit! Guy
Avast! or Avira. I think they're basically the same, look em up on the internet. Microsoft Security Essentials is good because it knows the details of what is 'supposed' to be in your OS, and can check your computer against that database (I think, at least). You'll also want an anti spyware. I use ad-aware. RIP TET "That which does not kill us makes us stronger." - Friedrich Nietzsche
Sbrideau
Ad Aware is no good, you should use Malwarebytes instead. I suggest Avira or MSE.
Guest Melvinkooi
COMODO is also a good one.

So should I combine Malwarebytes and Avira? I've never really used a seperate spyware program. Thanks to Uno for the awsome sig <

I've never really used a seperate spyware program. You should, that's what I do on 2 of my computers (the other computer being MSE and malwarebytes). What one doesn't detect, the other does. I used to use Ad-Aware but it never detected anything.
dsavi
I'm another fan of Microsoft Security Essentials, I use it on two of my own computers and we've got it installed on about ten more computers at the lab at school. Very efficient, you never notice it. After all, it is Microsoft- They should know how to fix their own system.
