30 gig iPod video. Guitar, you might start to hate, i dont know what that tablet thing is. But a iPod you can always change (songs) and you can take it everywhere.

I wouldn't get the tablet unless you're really devoted to drawing on the computer. The novelty wears off in about a minute, and they're pretty difficult to use well.

iPods are good, but make sure you don't get a small one and then think "bah, this now seems too small, and I am frustrated that I cannot fit all the things I want to on it".

A camera: that's a good idea, as long as it's a good camera. I mean, everyone should have a camera; if you don't already have one, I'd get that -- you may not use it every day, but it's worth having. If you do already have a camera, make sure this one is much better than your current one (unless you're a photography buff and a small increase in quality is worthwhile, in which case use your own discretion, of course).

I'm not sure about a guitar -- I've never tried playing one. If you know it's something you want to do (play guitar) then go for it. If you're not too sure, try learning on a friend's guitar first, then, if you like it, get one.

MP3 players a very useful in college and beyond, I recommend having one if you have over 1 Gig of songs. Be sure to look at different brands too.

My old 3G iPod was the best purchase I've ever made I think, and now the new one (with video) that I got is even better. If it was me since I have an iPod though, I'd get a nice digital camera. Both are good choices.

If you don't already play guitar I don't see that being the most practical thing to spend money on, and a wacom tablet might be cool but just doesn't entertain me as well as anything else.

Go with the iPod, no doubt

mp3 players are always good. cameras are always good when u need them. tablets aren't always worth shelling out that much for. and bassists are always strange... :|

You won't get a good bass for that much.

I think the only high end thing he could get with $300 is the mp3 player, everything else would be low-mid end. (Being a photography buff myself, nice digital cameras do cost a bit closer to $1000 for non-professional than most people would care to like..)
