Noob_Sammich
I was debating coming back to RS as a member after a few years of playing. I'm big on slayer, so could everyone chip in and help with what is the newest items/combinations that work best? For 90% of the time, I use melee setups to complete slayer tasks. I would also like to be able to use some/most of the slayer setup for everyday combat. I have 40m to spend on everything, but it can go a little over. It just goes to show that, though there's an age requirement, there's no IQ requirement to play RS.Wait, my friend said he got a keylogger and lyke he coudln't type, so I assumed it messed up his hands? LitterBug
Hey, I asked a slayer relation question and Quyneax went pretty indepth into it http://forum.tip.it/topic/287448-preparation-for-slayer/page__p__4724282#entry4724282It's like a little below the middle of the page. For most tasks - you should just melee + piety, and your gear will depend on youI think a lot of people go verac for the good defense + prayer bonus, some go verac legs + prossy body, for those who don't have 70 prayer - granite or fighter torso/dlegs is a common thingUm, if you could raise some more money - i think the ideal? setup would probably be bandos chestplate/tassets for the str boost. You could cape that off with a soul wars cape for the +12 prayer. For the other slots:necklace: fury > glory > ...ring: beserker > warrior > ...glove: barrow > other rfd gloves/combat braclet/regen bracletboots: dboots That's most of it for now I think. Levon_
for gear: slayer helmfury > glory (strength ammy on very low defence monsters)bandos chest > torso > prossy topbandos tassets > prossy legs / v skirt (depends on defence needs)dragon bootsfire cape > ardy cape (with rapier) > sw cape > ardy cape(whip) > trimmedbarrows gloves (get them asap if you dont have them)dragon defenderfero ring in kuradels dungeon, berserker((I)) outside FINALLY. rapier. if you don't have it get it asap. now for levels and order of equipment 70 prayer > 68 summoning > 84 herb > 95 prayer > 96 summoning > 91 herb > 99 summoning > 96 prayer (138 cb) > 96 herb equipment should be RAPIER RAPIER RAPIER RAPIER RAPIER RAPIER RAPIER torso > berserker > fury > tassets > bandos chest as soon as you can afford the next level in the list buy selling off some or all of these 4 items DO IT sorry about crappy grammar and layout, i just stopped caring EDIT I FORGOT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART. PIETY OR TURMOIL EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING. It's great you know what you're talking about rustiod. Everything you've said is 100% accurate a true. That being said...your a [bleep]ing [bleep] douchebag, and none of your advice will ever (or should ever) be taken seriously because of it.disregard good advice because the giver is a douche THAT MAKES YOU A BETTER PERSON
Quyneax
^Scratch getting a torso. It's about 2% melee dps boost but that doesn't take into account cannonable tasks (spectres, bloodvelds, black demons, hellhounds, dagganoth are all over 50% cannon damage, sometimes much more). Overall if you want to save the 2-4 hours spent getting the torso, you need to get 200+ hours of slaying done. In that time I'd expect you to be able to obtain a Bandos chestplate, really. That's not taking into account that you can save a little prayer by using a proselyte top (it's not that much, but over 200 hours of slaying you can save 200+ prayer potions which is around 1m gp). Imbued rings: you spend 25 hours and a few million gp getting +4 strength bonus. This is equivalent to getting a torso (benefit-wise) but of course takes much more time. However the torso is virtually useless for bosshunting as you would use Karil's top (Graardor, Kril) or void (tds) for bosshunting, or you'd need bcp for the ranged defence (DKS). Imbued rings are useful until the very highest levels. The same reasoning applies to chaotics. [hide=My usual post]The base slayer gear is as follows (alternatives in brackets):[For all slayer monsters except those mentioned under other weapons] Chaotic rapier (whip)Bandos body + legs (Verac's skirt with either fighter torso or proselyte top)[Depending on prayer/accuracy needs] Fire cape/Soul Wars cape/Ardougne cloak 3Barrows gloves (your best rfd gloves, at least rune)Dragon boots (rune boots)Amulet of fury (glory)Dragon defender (rune defender)Berserker ring (i)/ferocious ring if slaying in Kuradal's Dungeon (berserker ring, warrior ring)[Most important] Full slayer helmet.[For magic defence on waterfiends/aquanites] Karil's top and elite void skirt (black dragonhide body and chaps)[Crush attacks to use on waterfiends] Chaotic maul (Saradomin sword, Zamorakian spear)[stab attacks for higher-levelled dragons, when not using rapier] Korasi's sword (Zamorakian spear, leaf-bladed sword)Task-specific items such as mirror shields, antifire shields/potions, elemental shields, rock hammers, crystal chimesCannon (optional, up to personal preference)Slayer setups generally emphasise strength bonus, which increases the average damage of each succesful hit (slayer monsters usually having rather low defence, hitting is not a problem). Secondly, prayer bonus is important to keep the cost of prayer potions down (as you slay with piety on, to increase the speed of your kills. This is cost-effective and highly recommended). As a rule of thumb, +15 prayer bonus or above is good, but don't overdo it (anything above +25 is a waste). Defence and accuracy bonus are usually not fretted over (any defence bonus over 200 will do; if you get hit too often you should be using a protection prayer). Dagganoth, black demon, lesser demon, hellhound, bloodveld and spectre tasks should be cannoned, as it dramatically increases xp rates (although it costs a bit). Some notes on gear: You'll want a fury and a berserker ring before you get bandos plate, and get that before tassets. You'll want accuracy bonus on higher-levelled dragons; if using stab attacks (which you should) you can use the Ardougne cloak 3 which provides you with +6 stab and +6 prayer bonus. Torso + sw cape and fire cape + proselyte are common cheap top/cape combinations; the former is better. Some levels to get for slayer (in approximate order but I'm not sure on the summoning):68 summoning - bunyip81 dungeoneering (you need 2 million xp, which takes you to level 80, but allowing some tokens for the scroll of life) - rapier89 herblore (85 with a +4 stew boost) - extreme potions, superantifires95 prayer - turmoil and soul split88 summoning - unicorn96 herblore (91 with a +5 stew boost) - overload99 summoning - steel titanI'm sure I missed something but this is most of it.[/hide] Supporter of Zaros | Quest Cape owner since 22 may 2010 | No skills below 99 | Total level 2595 | Completionist Cape owner since 17th June 2013 | Suggestions 99 summoning (18th June 2011, previously untrimmed) | 99 farming (14th July 2011) | 99 prayer (8th September 2011) | 99 constitution (10th September 2011) | 99 dungeoneering (15th November 2011) 99 ranged (28th November 2011) | 99 attack, 99 defence, 99 strength (11th December 2011) | 99 slayer (18th December 2011) | 99 magic (22nd December 2011) | 99 construction (16th March 2012) 99 herblore (22nd March 2012) | 99 firemaking (26th March 2012) | 99 cooking (2nd July 2012) | 99 runecrafting (12th March 2012) | 99 crafting (26th August 2012) | 99 agility (19th November 2012) 99 woodcutting (22nd November 2012) | 99 fletching (31st December 2012) | 99 thieving (3rd January 2013) | 99 hunter (11th January 2013) | 99 mining (21st January 2013) | 99 fishing (21st January 2013) 99 smithing (21st January 2013) | 120 dungeoneering (17th June 2013) | 99 divination (24th November 2013) Tormented demon drops: twenty effigies, nine pairs of claws, two dragon armour slices and one elite clue | Dagannoth king drops: two dragon hatchets, two elite clues, one archer ring and one warrior ring Glacor drops: four pairs of ragefire boots, one pair of steadfast boots, six effigies, two hundred lots of Armadyl shards, three elite clues | Nex split: Torva boots | Kalphite King split: off-hand drygore mace 30/30 Shattered Heart statues completed | 16/16 Court Cases completed | 25/25 Choc Chimp Ices delivered | 500/500 Vyrewatch burned | 584/584 tasks completed | 4000/4000 chompies hunted
Levon_
torso is still better than a prossy top. and most people do indeed get a torso. also, is it just me or do you copy that usual post from zarfots slayer guide? amitoz
I just wore a Torso, D skirt, and Mask with fury, whip, Rune defender, Fire cape, rune boots when I got 85 slayer. Of course, this was ages ago... Come to my Clan chat (I'm there if I'm online) if you wish to borrow a Green H'ween mask, Blue H'ween Mask, Red H'ween Mask, or Santa for a reasonable price. The time it takes to get a torso is part of using a torso, always. I wouldn't know how many people get torsos but I know plenty of people who simply purchase a Bandos chestplate. As far as I know Zarfot never condensed his guide into one post. I wrote my post independantly, but of course guides tend to be based on the same principles. amitoz
^I'd rather use a Torso when PKing... But otherwise for slayer, Bandos plate is indeed better, not only for increased range defence from tasks such as daganoths, but also for prayer bonus while (you should be) using Piety. Quyneax
Piety followed by a bunyip is what you should get, then rapier.
