Noxx
Hi Guys. Well when it comes to the Runescape Marker/Grand Exchance i'm pretty much stupid. I fail at reading the patens and making good judgements according to the changes. So i need some help. With the recent BXP Weekend most of the prices of the skills i was busy getting to 99 have gone all [rooster]-eyed (Smithing with Addy Bars, Crafting with Blue Dragon Leathers and Fletching with Addy Bolts). I was planning on also getting my Prayer up to 99 via Front Dragon Bones (which i was collecting myself) and i was in the process of getting my Farming up from 89 via Torstol Herb Runs (until i felt it was time to start doing trees again). Now with the update of the Ring of Wealth i've noticed quite a few new drops that might affect two of these skills, Farming and Fletching. I've seen Torstol herbs being dropped in large amounts and Adamant bolts the same. I am yet to hear of Adamant bars or Blue Dragon Hides/Leathers to drop in a large amount but lets face it, anything is now possible as we have not seen ALL the new drops yet. I've never been someone to care too much about losing money when it comes to Skilling but i'm not keen on losing more than i have to.I basically had enough money to get 99 Fletching, Smithing and Crafting and then have 20m - 30m left over afterwards but after the past week i've been fearing that i might now have upto almost 50m to little (i'll still have to do the math to make sure though). Now with the updates come the fear that Torstol Farming might not be the profit it once was, Addy Bolts might not be as cheap as it once was and if there are any monsters that drop either Blue Dragon Leathers or Adamant Bars in a larger amount that any other used to that i might lose a ton on the supplies i already had banked, making me lose more than i budgeted for. I was counting on Torstol farming to make enough profit on my way to 99 Smithing/Crafting/Fletching that if infact i was short on my initial estimate that the profits from the Farming would cover the rest of the cost but now i fear i can no longer rely on that either. I know that there are many other (most others) that understand the market and its trends a lot better than i do so i now put myself at your mercy asking you for advice on what to do or how to continue. Should i continue the same way i have been for the last 4 - 5 weeks and just buy supplies, sell the end product, rebuy supplies? Will the prices of any of the material i was using before actually drop so much that the skill will become more expencive that they already were? And what do i do when it comes to Prayer? My current plan was this: Do a Bandos/TDs trip once i get onto Runescape. If i was lucky with a drop i'd sell it and put it straight into Frost Bones. Spend an hour or two getting 100k - 150k exp in each of Smithing, Crafting and Fletching then move on to either an hour or two at frosts or do another Bandos/TDs trip. While doing 4 - 5 Torstol her runs a day. This basically ensured a constant income and a stable exp rate which i was happy with. So to recap, what's going to happen to my skilling? How should i go about making money for Prayer, Smithing, Crafting and Fletching if infact things do start crashing? Thanks in advance! PS: Sorry for the very confusing manner in which this post is written. It seems that as soon as i need to start explaining things in English my English skills take a dive. amitoz
Just stick to it, and don't mess with the GE unless you know what you're doing. Come to my Clan chat (I'm there if I'm online) if you wish to borrow a Green H'ween mask, Blue H'ween Mask, Red H'ween Mask, or Santa for a reasonable price. Quyneax
If things start crashing, you will not always be able to rely on Grimy's sheets (as they take time to update & Grimy's google docs is overloaded) so you got to do gp/xp calcs yourself, and get current readings of the GE. That's basically all, moneymaking hasn't changed (frosts are good, tds, dks, Nex is best). LitterBug
Just stick to it, and don't mess with the GE unless you know what you're doing. Talk about putting up useless information. This is the help and advice thread not say useless information thread. Generally GE prices and trends are not terribly hard to predict. I don't know how often these noted drops are being given out because if you look at two of the most profitable herbs - we have snapdragons/torstol.Snapdragons fell (but it seems to be more due to the recent price hike cause of BXP weekend) and Torstol took a harder hit (again this might have some to do with the BXP weekend). For now I suggest keep up your farming - it's still going to be one of the best ways to make money outside of combat. However, rather then waiting til the end of the week (which is usually what I do), sell the herbs whenever you make a trip to the GE. This protects against the herbs from free-falling and you'll be maintaining a good amount of profit. The herb market is supposedly going to take a hit - but nobody can really tell how much/how hard yet. You shouldn't worry too much about losing money when skilling because you have access to frost dragons. I also see that you have 99 summoning - so that means you'll easily make 2 mil+ an hour banking and selling the bones from the frost dragons. Take this into consideration when you're deciding how to skill - calculate the lost time with this in mid. Another advice may be to trade your frost bones for dragon bones. Dragon bones are a lot cheaper gold:exp ratio so while you may not be training as fast as you want - you'll be getting a lot more out of it.
