a bit of help with effigies.....

I have been slaying and collecting quite a few effigies but I am not quite fully understood on how best to use the.

Would the best way be to have 97 in a skill myself then I can use that skill for all four stages of the effigy and recieve the lamp and getting mega xp for that skill opening the lamp. Then use the lamp on a harder to train skill such as prayer or something?

for example could I use my 99 hunter to get lamps out of the effigies and use them now?

It doesn't use the same skill for every stage, it changes.

So for example you could end up with a effigy that goes:

91 WC or Fletch,

93 Fish or Farm

95 Herblore or Hunter

97 Smithing or Mining.

Therefore there's a fair few skills you'd need to get up to get the exp from effigies if you're opening them all yourself.

117, though it's a bit annoying. Also try Assistclan too.

This is all entirely down to whether or not you see yourself going for maxed total, or at least 90+ in all skills.

I personally have saved up 78 effigies, and counting, whilst slowly working on skills across the board to ensure I get the most out of them.

Just remember you can use boosts in many skills, other than stews. If you had the following set of skills, for example, youd be able to open all effigies without any stew/assists.

95 Mining or 95 Smithing

94 Fletching or 95 Woodcutting

91 Cooking or 97 Firemaking

92 Fishing or 93 Farming

95 Herblore or 89 Hunter

97 Summoning or 97 Runecrafting

94 Crafting or 92 Agility

93 Thieving or 94 Construction

Personally, I'd suggest saving them if you see yourself attaining at least 50% of these skills.

Lets face it, 95 smithing, 94 fletching, 91 cooking, 93 thieving are all cheap and fast. Thats half your effigy problem solved already. You already have 99 hunter (although id strongly recommend saving all herblore ones for when you can use them yourself). If you have the perseverance to get 99 Hunter, i'm sure you could easily get plenty of these skills.

Hunter you actually only need 89 for, the ooglog pools boost hunter by 9.

Completely forgot about that, thanks

(probably because I would never consider using them on Hunter rather than Herblore)

It's probably more efficient to save them up until you can open them. For example, get 92 cooking or firemaking (Varrock elite diary requires 90 cooking & 92 firemaking anyway). Get 92 fishing (Fremminik elite requires 91) or farming (torstol is great money, you should be farming already). 92 agility is a tough one, but 92 crafting is fast and cheap with battlestaves, start buying now. Fletching and woodcutting - an easy afk skill and a fast skill. Herblore is needed for overloads - no question you should get that. Etcerera.
