The_Mather1
Actually, Archi, is it possible to obtain firing rights from Ravenna to eliminate the 'potential threat to colony safety and security' that is Chi's bunker from orbit? Deaths for Chi and Xinea, and no worries about whatever explosives Chi happens to be packing!First of all, I am not packing explosives.Second I may or may not have been hired as a soldier for the TFed.Third my bunker is too close to the colony for you to eliminate safely. archimage_a
It was specifically stated in the design that it had to be located far enough away from the colony to be destroyed (Implication, by Chi) and not have a significant effect on the colony. http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. The_Mather1
Orbital strike is a different matter, the bunker could safely be destroyed by an explosion inside it, as that would result in the shockwave forming in the air and almost immediatly transfering into the walls, resulting in them shaking apart and collapsing, however an explosion on the surface would have more energy directed into the surroundings than down into the ground and as a result the colony would be struck with a shockwave. Remember that air is better at sustaining a shockwave than dirt and rock. Also a much stronger explosion would be required tp blow it up from the outside. Nexaduro
Not really. I could drop a carrot from orbit and the whole thing would likely crumble. Archi, what lightspeed percent would you say might be necessary to simply crumple Chi's bunker and not any colony property? I'm guessing somewhere around 2-3. A 1kT round should do the trick, don't you think? High explosive maybe, just for that added kick. 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? Remember, Remember, the 4th of NovemberRIP Dawngate ;-;
The_Mather1
Nex, my bunker is 300 meter or so away from the colony, to destroy it from above would cause a shockwave that would easily crumble some of the outer buildings in the colony. Nexaduro
... Not if I just punch a hole through it... The Accelerator can safely fire a projectile at 20% lightspeed or any speed lower, using any projectile that doesn't crumple from the gravitational propulsion (probably most things bigger than the aforementioned carrot). There are at least several settings at which it could smash a hole in your 'impenetrable', likely cheap and unskillfully made, bunker without bothering the civilians. Or I could just shoot my pistol at it... Would still probably destroy the whole thing on the right setting, fired in the right spots. 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? Remember, Remember, the 4th of NovemberRIP Dawngate ;-;
The_Mather1
You seem to forget that anything moving at the speed at which penetration would be even be remotely believable would instead flatten on contact and spread its energy as vibration, as vibration travels easier through air than it does through ground, most of the energy would be expended on the surrounding above ground area, including the colony. Regardless, as long as Xinea lives, I am no threat to anyone... well, other than whatever target the TFed may have given me. archimage_a
Nex, what about a Plasma Warhead, that explodes above the bunker, and rains down Plasma on the Bunker. That should be sufficent to melt/burn/whatever through the concrete bunker. Either that...Or...three ideas and one picture. 1.Fire something of a number of reasonably small shots, which cause a shockwave which only causes damage within the first...0.874 seconds.Since sound travels at 365 meters per second, through concrete, and approximately 400 meters per second through wood:http://www.ndt-ed.org/EducationResources/CommunityCollege/Ultrasonics/Reference%20Information/matproperties.htm This means that, unless Chi's bunker is 319 meters from the surface, damage should be sustained, without harming the colony in any, significant way (Broken windows maybe). 2.Fire individual, shaped charges at the Bunker, to 'chip' away at the bunker. Also works with a laser. 3. Personal ChoiceHarpoon him.The shot would be needle nosed, probably made of Monotanium, for the flexibility, designed specifically for breaking a hole through into the underground chamber. With a small ampoule of Bilitrium. Then a fairly long, hollow, cylinder, probably made of Tetraburnium, for the weight, designed to carry the potential energy for the pentration. The inside would also be magnitised in this case, to prevent premature explosions. Then a payload, Anti-Matter, in this case (Though Nerve Gas and what have you works just as well(though gas masks negate it somewhat)), loaded to spring through the hollow section, and explode on contact with matter. On impact the nose, powered by the mass of the object, and producing a fairly negliable shockwave:At most you need a force of 5,000,000 Pascals or 5,000,000 Newtons meters, or 5,000,000 joules to cause the concrete to give way. (Probably significantly less as it is not maxed out on compressive strength)Therefore, an object would, either, need to be travelling at 2,237(Squareroot of 5,000,000) meters per second and weigh 1 kilo, or weigh 5,000,000 kilos, and travel at 1 meter per second. Now, we can assume that the object travels at (probably significantly higher) 3,000 meters per second. Which means the entire object would weigh less than a kilogram (If I am wrong, and you don't squareroot then this figure is 1.7 and is used for the rest of this, as it seems incorrect to me)However, we are talking about a needle nose, so the force is multiplied many thousands of times, resolving that, a weapon, weighing only a few hundred kilograms, at most, could, theoretically, be fired into Chi's bunker. Also, the shockwave of the weapon would be reasonably small, for much the same reason. The Contrails (or other word of the type that means trail of air) of the harpoon would be interesting, but overall, negligable. On impact the harpoon would suffer rapid deceleration. The Anti-Matter is released 0.5 seconds after impact, and would then impact on the harpoon, which was continuing to decelerate. As such, approximately 0.5-1 second after impact, so 5-10 meters inside the base(assuming deceleration efficency of 99.6%, aka 2990 meters per second, resulting in, if we assume 1.7 tonnes of weight, 5,083,000 Joules of energy being transfered to the concrete, which should be sufficent to overcome the compressive strength of concrete, causing it to break, allowing the harpoon to continue moving)* At a time between 0.5 and 1 second after impact, the anti-matter would interact with the matter and the Bilitrium, causing a large explosion, which would largely be absorbed by the concrete and what not.As such the harpoon would bypass the ground, allowing for destruction, without significant risk to the colony. *Actual deceleration efficency would be less, at it would equate precisely to the compressive strength of the concrete, and the remaining energy would not be transfered, but maintained. However this is vastly unnecessary.             As an aside, I may be late to the session, shouldn't be, but may be. Just so you are aware. http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.
The_Mather1
I just realized how vastly effective an anti-graviton shield would be. I have no idea how much it'd cost or how efficiant it would be with regards to power, but it should be able to block any weapon including lasers at high levels. Icuownage
Nex you could not fire a carrot into the surface of the planet for the simple reason that the carrot would just vapourise. A lot of your weapons you fire will probably be mishapen and or completely destroyed before impact. An energy weapon is your best bet. It's a REALLY big shaft.I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time? The_Mather1
Going by basic physics, one can understand that it would repel every non-graviton weapon and cancel out graviton weaponry, so only anti-graviton weaponry would get through. Although it would be innefictive against photon and meson based weaponry at low levels/low power conditions. I'm kind of suprised by how long it took me to figgure that out. That's another reason not to destroy my bunker, Nex, doing so would result in the TFed and privateers (pirates for hire) being supplied with technology in exchange for a hit. Leiana
*Sarcastic tone* Excuse me Chi, I didn't know I was a sheild <_< That certaintly makes me feel better. Nex, You do know that I'm also in the bunker? UH HELLO! I COULD KILL HIM IF I WAS HIRED TO DO SO (though I'd need a very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very VERY large amount of kT to get me to do that). The_Mather1
Since you compared you compared yourself to a medication to me because you keep me healthy, I used that analogy to point out my dependance on you. Twitter: @TheMather1
Leiana
Why depend on someone if they really dont do anything? I do silly things every session, none of which helps anyone out. And I generally figure out ways to annoy everybody in the game. I have annoyed pretty much everybody.
