report abuse simpler

Featured Replies

EDIT: October 25 You can now toggle right click reporting in the options section. :D

Instead of having to type in the name of someone who you want to report abuse, you should be able to click the report abuse button and then click the character of the person you want to report. If you right clicked on a group of players there would also be a drop down menu. It would display something along the lines of "Report Abuse PlayerName1". To clarify, it's like using an object from your inventory on a person, but the "object" is reporting abuse

This could also be used in the chatbox. You could click the report abuse button and then click the name of the offending player in the chatbox.

If you want to manually type in the name of the offending player, then you could right click the report abuse button and click manual report.

With this system, it would be much easier to report those people with names like "LLiiliLllasdjasdmzclpotatomonster"or whatever. Also it reduces the clutter of the right click. The options walk here, trade, follow, and request assist can take up a large portion of the screen, so having a specific button for these could reduce this.

Thanks for reading

Basically, click Report abuse and then right click on a group of players

This system could also be used with assist or even trade. Instead of having options that are hardly used cluttering up the right click, we should have special buttons on the side or on the bottom for these actions.

Also, Jagex should reduce the amount of time to report players since 1 minute is a pretty large amount of time. And does Jagex even check their reports anymore? I reported a couple of people for botting a while ago and, by checking their hiscores, I noticed that they were still increasing, even after a few weeks.

For now the only people that can report people without delay are player mods (or at least this was the case when I was one). I agree that it would be useful to ensure other players can too, although there should be a limit for reporting the same user to avoid spam-reporting.

As for the clicking option, I'm not too sure what to think to be honest. It would make trading in very crowded areas or getting assists for people in W117 quite hard as there'd be another set of options. It'd be quite easy to miss-click, but adding an option to the in-game chat (like there is "add to friends/ignore" and "kick" in chat options now) to report users would be helpful I suppose.

Ooh, and welcome to TIF.

To clarify, it's kind of like using an object from your inventory on someone. You click the item in your inventory and then you can right click on a group of players. All other options like trade and assist are removed when you are using an object on someone so it is easier to scroll down the list of people. The "object" would be the equivalent of the report abuse button. This would not make reporting harder in crowded areas, but rather, much easier since you can right click for a list of people.

I wish it were like FunOrb as well, so consider me a supporter. I also think some of those player names are just too hard to lock onto and type out properly, and that there should just be clickable options. :?

I agree with your proposal. Reporting abuse in busy places like the GE is indeed difficult.

Im assuming the reason jagex does not do this is so its not as easy to spam the system.

I know this is an old topic, but Jagex just implemented this into the game (not quite sure when). You can now toggle right click reporting when you click on options.
