Hey guys, thanks for viewing this thread. I'm going for tank(-ish) stats on this account, bored of my old main and been away for awhile so figure I'll start over and be less of a scrub. I'm way outdated, so I've got a bunch of questions for you on a bunch of topics. Mostly about skills-training, but there's some random ones. I'm comfortable money-wise, but by no means rich. I farm herbs/flip rune armour+weapons/run barrows when I have nothing better to do.

- I range/mage almost everything, call it a personal goal. For all intents and purposes assume my attack/strength will max-out at 70 for now.

- I don't mind sacrificing either a bit of time or profit to say I did something different. Key words "a bit" though. Time and money are interchangeable in this game, after-all.

- I consider quests obstacles, not goals really. They're easier but more boring the second time...

- Skill urns are like crack to me.

- I hear having gimpy melee will severely reduce my dungeoneering/boss-hunting capabilities unless I find a group who are kosher with it. I'm ok with that.

Money - I like having decent gear, so I'm tempted to just suck it up and gather herblore seconds until I've got any equipment I want (mostly arma chest/skirt for now, ranger boots/amulet of fury/top-end mage gear in the future unless the money piles up faster than I anticipate). House-tabs + canifis portal + mort myre fungus, right? Or was there a faster, "skill-less" method? (I can't do bosses/tds yet and don't plan to until I can pull my weight.)

Magic - If it's not a lunar spell or a combat spell, I refuse to touch it. Especially alching. (And excepting superheating, saves time over conventional smelting and combines xp gains.) So far surplus barrows runes vs any slayer task with the word "demon", "dragon", or "troll" has treated me well. The question: What stacks between the hexcrest, chaos gloves (which may get retired soon, too slow for my liking), and ancient staff (lack stats for SoL and consider ancient staves undervalued relative to one).

Prayer - Red dragons in the wilderness to collect bones to 70, use my own altar. They're always deserted and easy to range, canoes/glories make easy banking, and the non-100% drops are a nice perk over greens. Thoughts/experiences?

Construction - I want my own gilded altar so it's a worthwhile goal. Probably just burn oak planks on carved oak dining table flatpacks (I collect wierd stuff.), use house teles/house glory for banking. I've toyed with amassing long/curved bones from zombie imp jars over time to turn in for xp/lols. Anyone tried this?

Agility - Wilderness course to 70+ right? Ape Atoll's more frustrating/slower xp even without the dorks dds speccing me every 15 minutes. (The ones who complain when I pray melee and eat all my food to spite them are the best.)

Fishing - Fly fishing to 70, or fly fishing to 62 then monkfish? More concerned with xp rates than profit here.

Mining - Lol nubby 70 goals. Ardy Cloak 1 tele + iron -> Glories/Duelling rings to bank seems fast xp to me, esp with urns. (OCD about not dropping stuff if I can avoid it, plus I can't do most of the big money-making monsters yet, so it's an extra couple-hundred k per hour I can flip items with.)

Crafting - Want 70 again. Torn between just buying dragonhides (maybe with the cash from selling red ones), or fooling around with glass, maybe via super glass-make.

Thieving - To 70. Pyramid plunder still boss at 51+?

Rc - Contemplating 24k abyss death runes vs the ZMI altar. About how much xp/ess can I expect there? There's ~4.5m to be made with deaths last I checked, plus I've had success retaliating vs rc pkers so far, adding a little extra to the totals in mystic/ddses. I'm not a big pvper, but they've either been easy kills so far, or teled the second I start ranging them.

Defence Training - Given a lack of strong melee stats I can suck it up and use a slayer helm/pots, longrange it with a slayer helm/focus sight (hasnt been as bad as I thought, still not ideal though) or find some sort of PC/SW/whatever's the latest lolfastxp activity-group. I hear those have been nerfed since I last played (and I never liked them anyway). Can I expect a significant increase still, relative to 70 att/str + blackmask+pot boosts? Time is worth more to me than it was, since I've already trained the skill once.

Boss-Hunting - Honestly, I like the looks of it now with the additions of summoning+curses, but think as a tank I'd be limited in terms of viable content. Plus my stats have a long way to go before I can pull my weight. (Not an option to get carried.) My question is: Where are rangers acceptable anymore? Be honest, I don't mind swallowing my boss-killing dreams.

Unmentionables - I can, and will scape happily without woodcutting or hunter. Yay. For now.

Thanks for perusing my wall of text. Any info's appreciated, I'm a little lost. Add "Fail-o-holic" to chat/troll/flame in-game. I havent annoyed enough people to justify keeping private chat off yet.

- Pfft, my goals are FAR too "fluid" (ie. I have ADD) to be recorded in my sig.

I would go for making unfinished potions (requires a herblore level & a scroll of cleansing) which is 1.5-2m/hr depending on prices.

All magic damage boosts stack (hexcrest, staves, necklaces, chaos gloves, boosted magic levels, fire cape on ice strykes, ferocious ring etc.).

Prayer - Red dragons in the wilderness to collect bones to 70, use my own altar. They're always deserted and easy to range, canoes/glories make easy banking, and the non-100% drops are a nice perk over greens. Thoughts/experiences?

Green dragons are faster. This is incidentally a good way to make money.

Zombie impling jars are fast and expensive xp, count on 700-800k xp/hr (including buying and opening) and 15-20 gp/xp and more. Oak larders are the best until you can do oak dungeon doors.

Agility - Wilderness course to 70+ right? Ape Atoll's more frustrating/slower xp even without the dorks dds speccing me every 15 minutes. (The ones who complain when I pray melee and eat all my food to spite them are the best.)

Yes.

Fishing - Fly fishing to 70, or fly fishing to 62 then monkfish? More concerned with xp rates than profit here.

Barbarian fly fishing will get you a tiny amount of strength xp & agility xp as a bonus. It's also the fastest fishing xp.

Granite dropping is faster, use mining urns and a familiar. Juju mining potions will bank stuff for you if you have to.

Crafting - Want 70 again. Torn between just buying dragonhides (maybe with the cash from selling red ones), or fooling around with glass, maybe via super glass-make.

Air battlestaves are good xp, other staves are good also.

Thieving - To 70. Pyramid plunder still boss at 51+?

Blackjacking is faster, monkey knife fighters at higher levels. PP is still ok though.

Abyssing is very slow and I wouldn't recommend it. Steam runes are good, ZMI is easy.

Defence is still best trained through melee I think, even at low melee stats.

Rangers are neccesary for killing Kree'arra (decent/bad money depending how you look at it).

Unmentionables - I can, and will scape happily without woodcutting or hunter. Yay. For now.

You need some levels to do Nomad's Requiem and some other stuff.

Good luck :).

For agility if you don't want to do the wildy course to 70 you can switch to the werewolf course at 60(?). Slightly lower exp/hr at the benefit of no pkers. With an EE you wont need food either. Lacking that baskets of stawrberries are the next best thing.

For fishing you can alternately do C2 fishing in your early floors for DG, at your level it will be much less click intensive than barbarian fishing and be ~=exp. At higher levels its faster than barb be a decent amount (maxing at around 90 k exp an hour depending on the method used to do it).

Thanks a bunch for the responses/corrections.

Tried the red dragons for awhile today, it was alright. People telegrabbing whiteberries were very talkative too. One wouldnt stop typing even when I stopped responding. Guess it's really boring.

Oh and I don't mind the wild agility course anymore. I came back and killed 2 people who wanted my food earlier today. The flaming/whining made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Think I'll noob up barrows for awhile until I can get the more expensive goals out of the way. Up 2.3m so far today. (Net, not gross.)

For making money farming herbs is a great way to consistently add to your cashpile. RIP grimy's spreadsheets for avg profit per patch...

Also do your dailies. The ones I do are battlestaffs, berts sand, seaweed/pineapples from catherby, broad bolt and arrow tips from my slayer master, and I update MTK every day (this can alternatively be done once a week with 1.35 mil in the coffers and 100% approval). Which nets me about a mil a day not including my 4 herb runs which brings in another mil.

In all honesty - hunting is a pretty decent skill.

Leveling it in the beginning is pretty tiresome/annoying but once you hit a certain point - everything is a LOT easier.

Also having decent hunting/construction/farming leads to juju potions (which for the 5 minutes of herb farming you do) is definitely one of the best money makers out there.

The herb prices have been erratic - but I supposed at level 80 farming with juju + scroll of life - the best option is farming torstol at the trollheim patch and then snapdragons everywhere else.

My advice - for now don't worry so much about money making. You might as well work on these skills that don't require much for the time being until you start unlocking some better ways to make money (i.e making unfinished potions, crashing bots at the chaos tunnel for green dragons, etc)

For an easy 300-500K a day - work on all your dailies.

Just do the important ones -

some that I like to do:

Buy all the water filled vials I can (usually comes in boxes)

Buying Newt Eyes

Buying Unfinished Broad Bolts/Arrows

Buying Battlestaves

Buying the raw chicken things to make the spirit terrorbird

There are definitely quite a lot more - I just can't think of them :P

Yeah I like my dailies. I do the catherby pineapples/seaweed, unfinished broad bolts, battlestaves, and wf vials every time I pass them and they're up. Grab papayas/willow branches/whiteberries every time I pass a tree/bush patch, etc.

I'm getting 6-8 chests per barrows trip, and since I'm easily distracted and don't kill as fast as maxxed players my herbs are usually up when I house tele to resupply. I like it here and I'm making money.
