Yeah I like my dailies. I do the catherby pineapples/seaweed, unfinished broad bolts, battlestaves, and wf vials every time I pass them and they're up. Grab papayas/willow branches/whiteberries every time I pass a tree/bush patch, etc. I'm getting 6-8 chests per barrows trip, and since I'm easily distracted and don't kill as fast as maxxed players my herbs are usually up when I house tele to resupply. I like it here and I'm making money.
-
Thanks a bunch for the responses/corrections. Tried the red dragons for awhile today, it was alright. People telegrabbing whiteberries were very talkative too. One wouldnt stop typing even when I stopped responding. Guess it's really boring. Oh and I don't mind the wild agility course anymore. I came back and killed 2 people who wanted my food earlier today. The flaming/whining made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Think I'll noob up barrows for awhile until I can get the more expensive goals out of the way. Up 2.3m so far today. (Net, not gross.)

Hey guys, I've set alot of goals in place for myself and came to a realization: That's alot of cash. Wealth Gained at Barrows: 2,213,310 (So far...) Sure, I could gather seconds. Or noob up green dragons. But I messed around at barrows, refined my methods and made some buddies on world 31, so I figure I'll camp out there. Abridged Method: - I'll either bring house teletabs or noted supplies, depending on my mood. - Pray dharok, karil. - Pot super defence once prayer goes out or I hit verac, whichever comes first. - Ahrim last since he noobs up my stats. - Re-pot defence some time in the tunnels usually, depending on how ahrim went. - Range mobs in tunnels for kc. This is why I bring a black dhide body instead of karils top. - 3-4 chests per resupply. Starting (Relevant) Stats: - 70 Defence - 82 Ranged - 53 Prayer - 81 Magic - 76 Constitution Gear/Bonuses I've found this setup optimal with the equipment I have. Subject to tweaking. How this blog works: - I don't record every run. I simply record my risked wealth at the beginning of a session, and again after, recording any items I gain on a given day. Also a Fail of the Day and anything interesting I see. Here Goes: Day 1 - 13 April 2011 - Standard Gear, Fire Waves, Noted Supplies - Starting Risked Wealth: 6,346,063 - Closing Risked Wealth: 8,374,296 - K Coif + Ahrims Top - 77 Constitution - Fail of the Day - Forgot I had protect magic set as my quickprayer from an abby specter assignment. Thanks for showing me your max hit, Dharok. Luckily both of us were at full hp. Did a second session and came out with a wealth difference of 185077.

Hey guys, thanks for viewing this thread. I'm going for tank(-ish) stats on this account, bored of my old main and been away for awhile so figure I'll start over and be less of a scrub. I'm way outdated, so I've got a bunch of questions for you on a bunch of topics. Mostly about skills-training, but there's some random ones. I'm comfortable money-wise, but by no means rich. I farm herbs/flip rune armour+weapons/run barrows when I have nothing better to do. - I range/mage almost everything, call it a personal goal. For all intents and purposes assume my attack/strength will max-out at 70 for now. - I don't mind sacrificing either a bit of time or profit to say I did something different. Key words "a bit" though. Time and money are interchangeable in this game, after-all. - I consider quests obstacles, not goals really. They're easier but more boring the second time... - Skill urns are like crack to me. - I hear having gimpy melee will severely reduce my dungeoneering/boss-hunting capabilities unless I find a group who are kosher with it. I'm ok with that. Money - I like having decent gear, so I'm tempted to just suck it up and gather herblore seconds until I've got any equipment I want (mostly arma chest/skirt for now, ranger boots/amulet of fury/top-end mage gear in the future unless the money piles up faster than I anticipate). House-tabs + canifis portal + mort myre fungus, right? Or was there a faster, "skill-less" method? (I can't do bosses/tds yet and don't plan to until I can pull my weight.) Magic - If it's not a lunar spell or a combat spell, I refuse to touch it. Especially alching. (And excepting superheating, saves time over conventional smelting and combines xp gains.) So far surplus barrows runes vs any slayer task with the word "demon", "dragon", or "troll" has treated me well. The question: What stacks between the hexcrest, chaos gloves (which may get retired soon, too slow for my liking), and ancient staff (lack stats for SoL and consider ancient staves undervalued relative to one). Prayer - Red dragons in the wilderness to collect bones to 70, use my own altar. They're always deserted and easy to range, canoes/glories make easy banking, and the non-100% drops are a nice perk over greens. Thoughts/experiences? Construction - I want my own gilded altar so it's a worthwhile goal. Probably just burn oak planks on carved oak dining table flatpacks (I collect wierd stuff.), use house teles/house glory for banking. I've toyed with amassing long/curved bones from zombie imp jars over time to turn in for xp/lols. Anyone tried this? Agility - Wilderness course to 70+ right? Ape Atoll's more frustrating/slower xp even without the dorks dds speccing me every 15 minutes. (The ones who complain when I pray melee and eat all my food to spite them are the best.) Fishing - Fly fishing to 70, or fly fishing to 62 then monkfish? More concerned with xp rates than profit here. Mining - Lol nubby 70 goals. Ardy Cloak 1 tele + iron -> Glories/Duelling rings to bank seems fast xp to me, esp with urns. (OCD about not dropping stuff if I can avoid it, plus I can't do most of the big money-making monsters yet, so it's an extra couple-hundred k per hour I can flip items with.) Crafting - Want 70 again. Torn between just buying dragonhides (maybe with the cash from selling red ones), or fooling around with glass, maybe via super glass-make. Thieving - To 70. Pyramid plunder still boss at 51+? Rc - Contemplating 24k abyss death runes vs the ZMI altar. About how much xp/ess can I expect there? There's ~4.5m to be made with deaths last I checked, plus I've had success retaliating vs rc pkers so far, adding a little extra to the totals in mystic/ddses. I'm not a big pvper, but they've either been easy kills so far, or teled the second I start ranging them. Defence Training - Given a lack of strong melee stats I can suck it up and use a slayer helm/pots, longrange it with a slayer helm/focus sight (hasnt been as bad as I thought, still not ideal though) or find some sort of PC/SW/whatever's the latest lolfastxp activity-group. I hear those have been nerfed since I last played (and I never liked them anyway). Can I expect a significant increase still, relative to 70 att/str + blackmask+pot boosts? Time is worth more to me than it was, since I've already trained the skill once. Boss-Hunting - Honestly, I like the looks of it now with the additions of summoning+curses, but think as a tank I'd be limited in terms of viable content. Plus my stats have a long way to go before I can pull my weight. (Not an option to get carried.) My question is: Where are rangers acceptable anymore? Be honest, I don't mind swallowing my boss-killing dreams. Unmentionables - I can, and will scape happily without woodcutting or hunter. Yay. For now. Thanks for perusing my wall of text. Any info's appreciated, I'm a little lost. Add "Fail-o-holic" to chat/troll/flame in-game. I havent annoyed enough people to justify keeping private chat off yet.

If You Found 250 Million Coins. What Would You Buy? 20k views

Hmm... Full third age range, a godsword for melee assignments, 99 smithing, maybe 99 crafting, 99 mage alching all that junk, then range-slay to 99 range with whatever ammunition I want. -
Why people still trying to get slayer 85? :-\
Fail_o_holic replied to Autist's topic in General Discussion
Runescape is a game. Games should be fun. Variety is fun. Profit is also fun. Slayer brings variety and profit to combat training, therefore slayer is fun. Your silly bandits can beat my xp rate per hour (,I range almost everything nowadays anyway), but I will be alot less bored with the game, I will get better drops, and I will have high combat capability as well as a nice shiny skill level to show for it. By the time I'm 85 slayer whips will be almost pointless, so that's not my incentive. By all means, stop training slayer if you want to, but don't question other peoples' reasons. Not everyone wants to camp for whips, you know. -
I've been smithing at varrock mostly today, so here's some stories: Part 1 Moron - Can you make me an addy baxe? Me - Sure, if you give me bars. *He trades me 3 bars. I trade him the axe* Him - Omg noob scammer! I gave enough for 3 axes rported lolol. Part 2 Beggar - Can I have fre stuff? Other guy - Leave the lvl 100 alone. He's making stuff to sell or for himself. Me - I don't know why people beg here. Smithing is a horrible way to make money nowadays. Beggar - No it isn't noob you can make rune plates I luked u up liar reported! Me - I'm 81 smithing. Beggar - Reported for macroing no-one has smithing that high! Other Guy - Al, I'm glad I'm not you. =P Part 3 Beggar - Make me free armour please? Me - I'm muted. Beggar - Ok. Part 4 Beggar (range pure) - Can you make me free addy arowz? Me - I'm muted. (It worked before...) Beggar - 0Mg faaking naab i report j00 for lying!!! Beggar - Answer me I own u in wild! (He's half my level...) Me - You realize I can 2-hit you without being potted? Beggar - Str noob. Someone look up my str and compare it to most other lvl 100s. Lvl 85s have called me weak until I beat them in the duel arena without eating (no protection prayers either). Part 5 Noob - How much was fire cape? Me - Priceless. Noob - I buy 50k. Me - It's not tradeable. Noob - Then how do I get it? Me - Beat the tzhaar fight caves. I'd suggest ranging. Noob - What lvl range did u beat at? Me - 80 range, 80 defence, 70 prayer. Noob - What your stats now? Me - 82 range, 82 defence, 70 prayer, 84 mage. (Don't look at my atk ans str. I'm on a "melee diet", trying to become a tank.) Noob - Your pk stats are nooby. Me - Not really. In 10 range levels I'll clean up tanking. Noob - Range tanks are bug abuse. They aren't supposed to wear armour. Noob - Reported for bug abuse. Me - Alrighty then... The moral - It's been a long day. 82 smithing better be worth it.

Can anyone stay stop whining and go do some clues? I mean I'm not pleased that the composite mage bow is selling for 1.1m, but that's all the more incentive to get it myself. Updates are inevitable because the majority of rs players are greedy kids always wanting more. If a new drop comes out, don't whine that your outdated stuff isn't top-line anymore. Gear up and get yourself the new stuff. Prices won't stabilise until enough of the new items have been obtained, so put on your depreciating barrows/dragon/whatever armour (or buy it now that it's down), get loot hunting, and stop whining about the natural flow of the economy. Fix the problem yourself. I'd highly suggest slayer monsters (jelly and up).

Ugafan 2009's guide to making money with the skills!
Fail_o_holic replied to ugafan_2009's topic in General Guides
Ranging: You forgot blue dragons! How can you forget blue dragons! You get at least 4k per kill by default! And don't go whining about banking, I can bank and be back before my special bar recharges, and I walk! Blues are at least 150k per hour, and that's assuming you get no drops other than hides and bones. I find I get roughly as many nats as dragons I kill, they drop plenty of alchables, and the herbs too. Add lvl 3 clues to that, and these are monsters that will yield more than 200k per hour. I am angry that my precious blues have been slandered by not being included!!! You are a horrible, malicious, nasty person!!! Yeah, just kidding. It's more of a list than a guide though. And you're welcome to try maging the range dagganoth king. You will die though. I'd also mention that your dagganoth king team should not only be high levelled, but attentive and well equipped as well. A lvl 95 with verac/karil parts and a crystal bow is much better of than some level 120 with bronze arrows and red hides. -
Basilisks, blue dragons. They're both excellent. To put it in perspective, I generally get enough nats from blues to alch what I get from their hides. That's decent nats, along with the d bones and hides. Sell those and you can buy loads more nats too. 4k per kill means 13 nats per kill or so. If you're f2p... Good luck getting decent quantities without buying...

Use the slayer skill to reach your combat goal. You won't regret it.

Magic Dart - What's so good about it?
Fail_o_holic replied to Toxicologist's topic in Help and Advice
That's a myth as far as I know. I think the only reason it hits alot when tanking is because people only tank vs things with horrible mage defence anyway. (ie. The barrows dudes, metal dragons, and dagganoth rex.) Maybe it does ignore the penalties, but I highly doubt it. I just use full veracs. :P -
I can't see what your stats are, but steels do have the best drop rate. You could also kill other metal dragons, as you'll be able to kill more, but they don't drop d legs/skirts as often. If you're broke, you'll have trouble killing them, as they will either require plenty of runes and some dfire pots, or plenty of prayer and dfire pots with a decent weapon. If you've got these supplies, go nuts, and good luck.

i need alot of money.nd best way to train prayer
Fail_o_holic replied to flanaganq_23's topic in Help and Advice
For prayer and money, assuming you have decent range or can afford a halberd, kill blues (preferably in the enclave, but taverly and the heroe's guild work too, just slower), banking all bones and hides. Use the d bones at a giled altar or the ectofuntus for tons of xp, and sell the hides for 2k each. Alternately sell the bones for 2.3 to 2.5k each as well, giving you over 4k per kill. I'm doing this for 70 prayer, plus I'll get 3.4m from the hides. I'd recommend it to anyone who knows how to use a halberd properly. Happy praying/money making. :P -
Yeah it was immature. I at least tell them what it is. Anyhow: Please note that I think god armour is a complete waste except on f2p. Rockshell over any runite any day ftw! Him:Like my zammy helm? Me (On my skill pure):No, I think god armour is a waste of resources. Him:Like my zammy helm? Me:No, god armour looks stupid without whole set. Him:Like my zammy helm? Me:You must have chat off... Him:I don't have chat off. Like my zammy helm? Me:Open your eyes! I think god armour is lame! Him:It's not god armour it's zammy, noob.

If I'm wrong then the tip it barrows guide is wrong. :P Click here and see for yourself.

You may want to check your facts there: - Guthan's helm is exactly the same as torags. - Guthan's body is actually better than torag's (by 3 range defence  ). - Dharok's legs are the same as torag's. Verac's doesn't measure up to any of the other melee sets in terms of raw defence, however it is great for many things, especially when praying. At higher levels try doing barrows with it. :D Giant rock crabs ftw! (Link in sig.) By the way, I got my full verac's on world 2 two weeks ago for 4.55, seller's price. That was 150k above what everyone else was offering.

Guide to meleeing giant rock crabs, solo. (v.1)
Fail_o_holic replied to Fail_o_holic's topic in General Guides
Hmm, how many are there down there? A level 95 like me may not last too long down there if there's alot once they start retreating. Incentive for teaming perhaps? Sounds good, I'll try to finish getting bones to peaches, then try your suggestion when I can. Got alot of smithing/dragon killing/ectoing cut out for me first though. I'm also wondering if ruby or diamond bolts would work at all. The ruby ones (blood forfeit) would hit them for 48 initially, and the diamond ones (armour-piercing) could perhaps be used to finish them off. And can cannons be used to "create" a safespot/barrier? That would be something to look into. Yes, I know they're useless against the crabs themselves, but it would revolutionize trapping. I've also heard from one of my friends that you can set up a cannon "on top of" monsters and pin them. I'll have to play with it later. -
You mean grinding the bow-sword? That doesn't actually have a use yet, and we're still waiting for it. I'm guessing they won't be released for a long time, although I'm certain they will be very profitable if they do.
-
To answer your question, no. Welcome to the boring, monotonous world of smithing. :P Because iron is the best xp per ore after gold with gauntlets, which makes no profit in bulk. Iron is also fast to obtain weather you mine it or buy it. Don't bash iron, it got me to 78 smithing dude. And rubies are easy. Head to the gem mines and pick up some bolt tips while you're at it. And honestly, what else would you use rubies for, str ammies? Rings of forging are far from a waste of rubies unles you really like mining.
-
If you're asking about good ways to level smithing and make money, try these: 1. Iron knives - Buy iron 100 each, get rings of forging, sell knives 40 each. You double your investment, but it takes a while. 2. Iron darts - Buy iron 100 each and feathers 10 each, get rings of forging. Sell darts 35 - 40 each. Doubles your investment. Slightly faster and gives (some) fletching xp, but less smithing xp and the fletching is tedious. 3. Cannonballs - Buy iron 100 each and coal 200 each, or steel bars 550-600 each, make cballs, then sell them 175 - 200 each. Doesn't double your profit and the cballs are slow (to make and to sell), but you don't have to make a second run for smithing. Smelt, mould, bank, repeat. 4. Superheating - Better for higher level metals. Allows you to mine a full load of steel (don't waste nats on worse than steel) in fewer trips and saves the smelting. Requires mining skill as well. Happy smithing. EDIT - Btw, smelt in port phasmytis and smith in varrock. Best places.

Goal to level 70 Defence Need Advice ON HOLD
Fail_o_holic replied to niagra9's topic in Help and Advice
I train almost exclusively with slayer assignments. It's slow, but you'll have a head start, and unlock some very nice monsters to train on. Bloodvelds (150 hp, no defence, good loot, range/hallyable.) Basilisks (Excellent xp and loot.) Dustdevils (Great for ranging, decent loot, d chain [you wish].) Slower training in the beginning for better things later on. Consider it. -
I wouldn't worry unless you have 85 slayer (which neither of us do). The whips are at ~2M now and will likely drop more. I've sold mine and put the money into miscellania until I'm fighting with anything other than veracs again. (After I get my santa...) Of course, looking at your slayer goal, you'll want the whip anyway. You'll make money with it faster than the price drops, even just doing slayer assignments. If you're going to use it, do so, as it's a great weapon.
