Herb Farming on the way to 99 Farming

Curious as to how much it reduces cost, assuming you to 1 tree run per day (Magics, Palms, Calquats or Yews, Papaya's, Calquats) and 5-6 herb runs per day. Trying to figure out if it will negate the cost or how much it will reduce it by...

Tip: Take a few mins daily to go w117 daemonheim and assist farming effigies, it's really good! Ive been assisting there from lv 87 (boosting +4 with stranger plant) and @ 30k xp daily ive gotten almost 1m xp so far :)

It doesnt really take long, sometimes it only takes 1 min :D But sometimes it can take up to 15-20 (but that was because i could only assist lv91, since i got 89 farm, i can assist 93 and its really quick, max 5-7 mins of advertising :) )

Try it and best of luck :D

(I should get 99 Farm in february by simply assisting daily ;))

This was some time ago, but I got 85->98 farming almost entirely from farming torstols, making a couple hundred million in the process. It's not the fastest XP, but if you're able to make 5-6 herb runs a day it's pretty decent. On average, a single (torstol) herb run will get you somewhere around 10k experience, depending on harvest yields and whether you're using juju potions (you should). Lower herbs somewhat less of course.

Note that for torstols, you really need the juju potions to profit. You can profit on other herbs without them, but it's best to use the highest profitable herb if experience is a primary goal. Basically all high-level herb seeds other than cadantine profit well, so getting more experience sounds best for you. With torstols, assuming you do 5-6 runs a day that's around 1-1.3 million per day. Not the fastest moneymaker, but not many skilling methods make more.

Since I've never done much tree farming, I'm not sure whether these profits cover what you'd need for tree farming.

Without scroll of life or jujus I net, on average, 130k profit per run on snaps using all five patches.

With jujus your are probably looking at another 100k profit per run on top (assuming a 33% boost which is about 2 herbs if I am calculating it right).

So at 0.25 M gp profit per run you are looking at 1.25M gp per day for five runs. Magic seeds are at about 280k per so you're looking at 1.4M gp per day to do all five patches once. A net cost of 150k gp per day.

Watch out though magic seeds are going up and snaps are a bit unstable (at todays prices you'd make closer to 270k gp per run). I don't know how yields change with level. My calculations assume an average of 9.2 herbs per patch based on my current rate and assuming a 33% boost from jujus (which, to be clear, I have never used).

Repeating the calc with torstol prices gives about 200k gp profit per run.

Worth noting that this is quite a small sample size and because of the relative rarity of disease it might not be fully representatice; Google up grimys spreadsheets if you want a more authoritative answer.

I'd say torstol will do 350k per run, maybe more if you merchant a little with the seeds (buy when low) and sell the herbs high. It's 5 minutes per run for about 8k xp (around 250 xp per herb pick + a few hundred for planting + compost). Jujus do not increase farming xp.

Torstol is pretty good money, if you value farming xp at 10 gp/xp you're even looking at 400k+ gp/run, for as high as 4.5m/hr total. If you are not in a hurry & need money & do not value farming xp beyond 99 I would not recommend farming anything but torstol.

You need 45 herbs in total (from all five patches) to make any profit from Torstol seeds which is extremely risky in my opinion. 45-50 Herbs will only currently profit about 150-320k which is not far above from Snapdragons, not to meniton picking 50 Herbs is pretty slim even with Juju farming potions.

Actually the average with jujus is 45 or a little above inluding deaths, and you get around 150k per run from seeds. So if you are at 150k for 45 herbs + 150k for half a seed you got your 300k, and that's not even a very good run (I'd say the average is about 1-2 higher due to the no deaths at the Trollheim patch).

I completely forgot about Scroll of Life #-o

  • 2 weeks later...

The equivalent cash/hour of Herb runs (Snapdragon+Juju potion) is about 3-4m. If you make more than that, the only reason you would do Herb runs would be for the relatively low XP. If you don't care about that small amount of XP, it might be better just to spend your time making money without doing any Herb runs.
