Deflector + barrows vs void glvoes + ddef, no chaotic.

I've recently started on black dragons as my income due to acquiring super antifires but am stuck on the rest of my gear. Since slayer is failing to fund my impatience, I've decided to resort to a valid moneymaking mathod but this obviously deprives me of my delicious slayer helm.

I've heard that str becomes quadratically more valuable than atk as hit rate moves past 50%, with str's value over atk approaching infinity as hitrate approaches 100%.

Here's where the problem lies. I am a [developmentally delayed]ed music student who didn't pay attention during secondary school. For the sake of future calculations, how would I go about working out what degree of accuracy is required for 6 str to be superior to 13 atk?

While I'm here, I'd like to say that I'm doing this instead of greens/blues because I'm pretty much attention-deficit as far how I value changes in scenery. Frankly, I'm sick to death of big reptiles of those colours and want to kill big reptiles of a different colour. I'm fully willing to sacrifice some profit for that. I'm not doing frosts for the same reason as me not having a rapier; my stanima is very low with regards to dungeoneering. While I love it, I can only do so much in one day. I'm also willing to delay my chaotics due to DGS' ring requirements so I won't be getting them for quite a while.

Do a run through accuracy test, record 1000 hits and find your approximate accuracy. If you're lower than 50% that means 1pt of accuracy bonus will be equal to 1 pt of str bonus in terms of general dps. Hence the dragon defender is a better option because 25accuracy+6str=31 pts contributing to your dps. Whereas barrows gloves are 12 accuracy+12str=24 pts contributing to your dps.

6 str being an increase of about 3% to your max hit? And 13 accuracy about 6%, or something. At <50% accuracy that'd boost the number of succesful hits by 6% too (so 10% accuracy becomes 10.6%) if my math isn't wrong. So you'd get, for example, 10% hits at 103 damage or 10.6% hits at 100 damage.

Over 50% accuracy you get accuracy 'overkill' just like using a maul on imps. So I'm guessing a 6% accuracy roll increase on, say, 50% accuracy would mean an increase to ~53%?

Imagine a matrix with all possible combinations of attack and defence rolls, 100x100. You get a square with on one side of the diagonal all hits, and on the other side all misses. An increase in accuracy roll adds more colums of hits. So if you have the 100x100 matrix and add 6 colums of hits, you add 600 hits, for a total of 10600 attacks of which 5600 hit. That's 52.8% accurate.

Should be noted that my math is not really good so someone should probably correct me, lol.

Quadratic is too vague. x^2 = 0 is a quadratic but it has a very different gradient then 200x^2 = 0 which is also a quadratic. It's like saying damage is proportional to strength. But without knowing the constant of proportionality, you can't do any calculation.

Also, I started trying to do some math about how increase in attack will correlate with increase in strength but got quickly confused. Everything is a percentage. You can't do this from just saying is +X in attack be better then +Y in strength. This comparison will change with both a change in original accuracy and original modal damage.

To do this comparison, I would also need to know how a set increase in attack bonus correlate to % accuracy.

Eh if you mean the accuracy formula, it's the same as max hit formula, that is: 5 + (level +8)*(gear bonus + 64)/64. Level contains potted (visible) level multiplied by salve/black mask/focus sight, prayers etc., style bonus comes after this. Void is added after everything (well before the 5). So +13 gear bonus would be close to 13/190th increase depending on your starting attack bonus, which I rounded to about 6%.

Being horribly uneducated, I'd assumed that quadratic denoted a specific relationship rather than being the name of a type of relationship. Sorry about that. I guess there's not really anywhere to go with this without exposed game mechanics.

What does that actually give you in terms of accuracy. e.g. a player with 60 attack and 70 attack bonus gives 147. What does that actually mean o.O

You roll 1-147. Opponent rolls 1-their max defence roll. Highest one wins, case of tie defender wins.
