Best XP / H for training Strength?

Hi all,

I just came back to runescape after 3 years so now i need to get updated on the best ways to train my melee stats.

My current stats and bank if you need them:

1106140056.jpg

For now im training strength at bandits with prayer gear and sara sword/d2h getting 100-110k xp/h just like i did 3 years ago. I also tried dharoking monkey guards which was about the same xp but alot more annoying.

Are these methods still considered good xp?

I heard about armored zombies and meleeing ape atoll skeletons being good xp and i even have salve ammy(e). How much xp/h would i get there with my stats? Note, i can only afford 1 piece of bandos and i don't have a torso so i would preffer using prayer gear or dharoks but not necessarily. I would also preffer if i could obtain some charms while training because my summoning is really low. :(

My first goal is being ready to pk again which i don't think i am right now. Which quests and stats are must haves for pking these days? I have done dt, rfd, lunars, piety quests already and i heard about korasi sword which also needs a quest to use. Are there any other quests i should do?

Is turmoil a must have or can i still compete with piety at my combat lvl(112)? :o

Is there anything else i should get?

Dharok's is better xp than Bandos anyway, stick to using that. However if you want charms, ape atoll skeletons are pretty bad (no drops at all). You could do armoured zombies, for that you don't use Dharok's but you can use void. Elite void is the best prayer gear there is, so you might want to get it (requires quest, you get the elite void top for free as well). Other than void and a chaotic weapon you have the very best powertraining gear really.

Living Rock creatures are really good to Dharok, you can't use a salve amulet on them but they give 4.4 and 4.6 xp per 10 damage (as opposed to 4 for most monsters). They also have a fairly low max hit, and very nearly no defence, and very high health. Trouble is the living rock strikers use melee and ranged, so be careful to mostly attack protectors.

I think you do need turmoil to compete, yes. At your attack level a chaotic weapon would also be very useful. Look into dungeoneering and see if you can get one.

If you want summoning and good exp - try out slayer exp.

It's generally NOT >100k an hour (more around 80-90k ish melee exp) but it levels up slayer which is slow so you should start asap.

Also, many of the tasks that are assigned are great if not some of the best charm droppers in the game.

The slayer helm bonus is pretty great in addition to the generally weak monsters that you get assigned

first off bandits are maybe 50k xp/h at best :P they are mainly for people with 1-45defence and trying to keep it that way

if you are dhing monkey skeletons you would get around that 100kxp/h same with armoured zombies, living rock creatures might be viable at your levels although it would be better if you had a bunyip (as would most training spots.)

or you could just do slayer for the obvious reasons.

If you are Dharoking (which is the best xp even with rapier out there) you definitely don't want a bunyip :P.

Wow, you guys are fast. :-o

I guess i will try armored zombies first then. I just saw a yt guide about them and they seem like a good place to train and i can substitute one piece of bandos with veracs/prossy since will be praying anyway. :shades:

If you want summoning and good exp - try out slayer exp.

Totally forgot about slayer, thanks for reminding me. I will defninitly do some slaying on the way to maxed attack and strength when i will get bored of grinding the same monsters over and over. It probably wont be my main source of xp though.

In the main building without any other players there its 100k+ xp/h. I used neitz, prossy, fury, fire cape, sara sword and super potted without piety.

I only just tested this today.

Thanks for all the helpful replies, i will try to take each of your points into consideration.

I get 160k xp/hr training strength at ape atoll monkey skeletons w/ rapier, void, salve (e), lava titan, extremes, and turmoil.

I only tried dharoking there once, but have since then gone back to using void or proselyte simply cuz it requires barely any attention. Consider dharoking there, depending on your budget... I was also 70 prayer the first time I tried dharoking there and ran out of pray pots very quickly.
