Phil
Maybe limit it to sitcoms from US. How about no? We all want to join in the competitions. Maybe different sections for American, British and Australian?
AThousandLies
I don't think there are any noteworthy sitcoms which last more then two months here in Australia.
MyPurpleCrayon
Greatest Book-to-Movie ever. Or the other way around. :D Ghost: I am prejudice towards ignorance, so that would explain why I appear to be so.
assassin_696
I like the greatest album ever idea, and the greatest book ever. Sitcoms would be good as well. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"

Maybe different sections for American, British and Australian? Sorry, I didn't mean it come out like that  the greatest book ever. And the greatest book ever will not work. Too much genres and so much selection that it won't be easy to acquire a book and read it in less than a week. And too many different opinions too. Like me, I'd vote Hardy Boys series as the greatest books ever because they're the love of my life since it got me into novel reading. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
stevester77
Greatest album every would be a fun one imo. I have a few ideas/suggestions for it already :D . I also wouldn't mind seeing a greatest book ever topic. I don't really see how it wouldn't work. If people are having a hard time reading the books in time, we could always extend the length in time of the poll. Not to mention as with a greatest book ever poll, im sure your average 12 year old that reads these forums won't pick the one book they read and then vote on this one (because most likely, the average 12 year old won't have any of them read.). I think a greatest book ever poll would be cool as it would be geared towards the more mature tip it users.

Album preferences would be just as opinionated since everyone has genres that they prefer so might choose 10 albums that are completely different from the next persons. There are just as many musical genres as there are fiction. And maybe it doesn't have to be geared towards people going out and reading them in a week, but could encourage people to start certain novels. I would find it interesting. stevester77
Maybe limit it to certain genre's? Or even do one genre at a time? Say greatest alternative album of all time. Or maybe greatest classic rock album of all time. Might be a bit too much, but im just trying to toss around a few ideas.

I can imagine all the fights during a greatest metal, punk or emo album. :P Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore! But back on topic.. should we start suggesting possible albums for a GAOAT contest? And if so, what are the general guidelines for interpreting if a certain album is the greatest? Should we just stick with original releases? Hmm "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
How2PK
I think it would be better to do a greatest album per decade than per genre. This way you won't have all the genre fights and you still got a bit limited competition...But I don't really know where to start those. My 'knowledge' doesn't go much further than late 50's...Maybe all the winners of the decade competitions could compete for the greatest album ever title. Meh my general knowledge of music really only begins in the 60/70's.. was there very many "great" albums that came out in the 50's though? I also like the idea of the winners of a album of the decade contest to be used to compete for greatest album ever. I'd say just original releases. No live recordings and no Greatest Hits albums. I agree.
