krymrgn
Hi- I'm a runescaper-mother who loves the game- love it- my kids got into it as well- however- during a time when one of my kids was not actively playing he believes his account was hacked into- and thus he lost a lot of valuable items- plus money- is this possible? Has others had it happened to them- not by selling an item but just not playing for a while going back and having a bunch of your stuff gone- that's what happened to him- Is there anything I can do? Anyone have any thoughts or advice? And he found a golden cracker thus got a golden hammer from this incident- what the heck is that- and is it a real thing-? I found a site thing about it- but he didn't do any of the things that it said you could do to get said golden cracker- he believes whoever hacked into his account left it for him- does this not sound incredibly weird or what>? Any help for us? Thank you- a loyal member and fan- Rown Ash- krymrgn-
K4ylan
A golden cracker is given to all accounts. If you open it on someone, you receive a golden hammer. http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Golden_cracker Most likely your son experimented with bots or received a keylogger or was sloppy in keeping his information. No other way for him to get hacked really. ~~~The Harpy List~~~Harpy Facts~~~It's Super Effective~~~The Beginning~~~Harpy Therapy Center~~~Alg~~~Jedi Harpy~~~Rohirrim~~~Attenuation~~~
Crocefisso
Monitor your son's account security more closely in future, make sure it's tightly protected. It won't happen again that way unless he blabs, in which case, there's little you can do. Sorry about your son's acc. I know the feeling; it's pretty lame. Kaida23
At least he learned something from it. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P. So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually... Kimberly
First, this topic belongs in Help And Advice. krymrgn, I'll move this topic there for you. :) Second, I'm in the process of cleaning off this topic. If you see your post disappear, PM me please instead of continuing the off-topic arguments here. Thanks for your cooperation! :) EDIT: i didn't really appreciate the comments about me not doing my job "correctly" didn't expect that from these forums either- I was asking for help and get dogged- I can totally see how you'd feel that way, but I think the user who made that comment didn't mean that you failed in your job; rather, he simply wanted to let you know what you could do to prevent such incidents in the future. :)
frolacosta
The golden cracker is a gift to every member on Runescape as a kinda thank you for helping them win the Golden Joystick Award. As for the hacking, many members get hacked at some point in their Runescape life, i was fairly recently. Unfortunately there is no way of retrieving any items lost through hacking or through some sort of glitch. That is there to stop people exploiting the system, for example someone could get their friend to "hack" their account and take their items, then ask Jagex for the items back. Thus ending up with double the items for free. Getting hacked is a pain but it just goes to show that you must always keep your password safe as well as a secure computer to catch any keyloggers that may infiltrate your system.
