  1. 1. Should I get rigour? Or keep 55 prayer for spirit shield?

Recommended Posts

Hello Tip.It Members, I have just made a ranged tank, and at the moment his stats are, 42 att, 42 str, 63hp, 60defence, 71ranged, 70magic, 22 prayer.

My goals are

99 Magic

99 Hitpoints

99 Defence

99 Ranged

75 Attack

70Strength

55 Prayer(Or 74, depending on poll results)

I was wondering which quests I should do? I don't want to train up to 75/70 att/str right now, because I want to finish all the quests I need to do that will give me Att/Str exp first.

I am planning on doing:

Forgiveness of a Chaos Dwarf

Desert Treasure

Lunar Diplomacy

The Chosen Commander

RFD

And not sure which others...Please help me! Thank you Tip.It!

I'd say rigour is worth it. The 19 prayer levels are the difference between 104 and 106 combat, but you get about 4 more ranged levels from the prayer compared to eagle eye. And those 4 levels are about one combat level's worth (better to be 95 ranged/mage with rigour than 99 with eagle eye, ranged damage wise).

Should be noted that you can go up to 78 attack (for Zuriel's staff) and gain no combat levels if you keep 70 strength.

Rigour is definately worth it in my opinion. Both Rigour and Chaotic crossbow are both very nice to have, so I recommend getting them both, but you may want rigour first.

The purpose of a range tank is to stay ranged based, meaning you will want to go no higher than 148 attack and strength combined. 78 attack and 70 strength might be nice, but I'd actually stay at 75 attack and 70 strength which will give you some room for future released quests that may be important.

Edit: Not sure if you plan to do quests/skilling on your tank, but if so you may want to consider doing Path of Glouphrie which give 30k strength xp which is a required quest While Guthix Sleeps --> and While Guthix Sleeps is a pre-quest for the quest coming out this month which will supposedly provide new range items (I think).

Rigour>ccb.

I just want to get ccb first because it is more expensive. 34k or something points more.

Thanks so much, after i said I was going to get 78 attack I was thinking I'd rather save the levels incase a quest comes out I want to do. And thanks for The Path of Glouphrie tip. I'll do that before I start training strength. Right now I'm 70def, 74ranged, 42 att/str, 69hp. 44prayer. Got a few nice pvp kills already, but anyways thanks for the tips guys!

Last thing I want to know, does anybody know a list of main quests I should do As a maxed range tank? Should be noted I wish to go no higher than 75-70 att/str.

You want to do everything that gives attack/strength xp before you get 75-70 att/str. So king of the dwarves, fight arena, the fremmy quests, probably some more....even if it doesn't give any reward you should do the quest anyway in case of further questline developments.

Thanks very much guys. Yeah, At the moment my account is pretty good. Stats= 85Ranged, 94Magic, 76hp, 73Defence, 42/45 att/str, and 44 prayer(getting 74), and I have 88Cb. I have been pking a bit, I have noticed I do really good at tanking up the hits of 1def pures. My plan is to keep range and defence 10 levels apart, until 99 obviously. such as right now 85 ranged, getting 75def, then 90ranged, 80def, etc, etc. If anybody need helps making a ranged tanks, wants to join a ranged tank clan, or just wants to PK, add me ingame, my name is Raged By You.
