Troacctid
You need 76 mining and 74 smithing to do all the quests (and the particular quests that require those levels, Ritual of the Mahjarrat and A Clockwork Syringe respectively, are also two of my favorite quests), so that'll be a pretty good reason to train them. Dragon armor (in P2P) is the best if you have 60 defense, but at higher levels it is not the best (with the exception of the dragon defender, which is generally considered the best shield slot item for most melee combat). In F2P, you can get Corrupt dragon armor, which is like the P2P version except that after wearing it for 30 minutes, it crumbles into dust. Corrupt dragon armor is better than rune while it lasts, but generally not worth the high price. Magic is not usually trained as a combat skill, and especially not in F2P. However, it's important to have a decent level so that you can do stuff like teleport and so on. Also, you need 80 magic to do all the quests, so once again, there you go. (And the quest you need that for, The Void Stares Back, is another fun one that's definitely worth doing.) In P2P, magic isn't actually so bad in combat. Ancient Magicks spells are very strong: ice spells freeze the target in place, blood spells heal you based on the damage you deal, and they're multitarget, able to hit up to 9 enemies with each cast. There's also Storm of Armadyl, which hits very hard at the same speed as a scimitar. Mages are quite formidable in PvP. You don't see a lot of people maging in everyday combat, though, cuz the runes for the good spells are expensive. AppleShampoo
Well, I'm combat level 46. Have done a good bit of the free quests and am working on doing Dragon Slayer so I can wear my rune plate body. I've been mining a lot whenever I'm not leveling to make money. I have a good bit saved up for whatever I need. I'm about to go p2p so I can wear better armor, do construction, thieving, and slayer. My magic level is still only level 6. Sucks because I have to run everywhere and can't tele anywhere but Lumbridge. I've read the http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?page=new_members_P2P_guide.htm and it is pretty helpful. Does anyone have some advice for someone just going to P2P? Something you wish you would have done sooner or different. Advice in general? How is construction? It seems like a neat concept. homer205
Construction is designed to be money sink for the economy, so it's quite expensive for what is really a novelty, though I will say it does have some advantages such as a gilded altar. I would really recommend leveling magic in order to be able to teleport around the map, it will definitely speed things up though if you don't want to then you could buy some teletabs, they're stackable items that you can left click in order to teleport to the area. Some enchanted jewellery such as dueling rings, games necklaces and glory amulets also provide useful teleports. Plus glory is a good affordable amulet for general use. Personally I'd recommend doing quests as they take your fancy and general map exploration (quests are good for this). If you plan on running around a lot then I'd also suggest heading over to tree gnome stronghold and training some agility, this skill lets you recover energy faster and use shortcuts scattered throughout the world. Troacctid
I wish I had done quests sooner when I started P2P. The xp rewards are a lot more relevant at low levels, and it saves a lot of time training if you do them early. AppleShampoo
are there any quests you should do before you start slayer? I see this smoking kills quest that lets you get points after you start slaying. Is that necessary? Also can I skip the first guy or what?
transcript80
You don't need to do smoking kills in order to start the slayer skill. However, you should do it whenever you can, as it introduces slayer points, which can be used to cancel/block tasks (the ones you don't like/slow tasks etc.) and buy/unlock equipment and abilities. As your combat is still fairly low, you can train combat with slayer, and level up to the required levels for "Smoking kills". What do you mean by "skipping the first guy"? You start the skill by accepting a task in Burthorpe. After you complete it, you caqn go to any slayer master that is suitable for your level. Generally, the higher the slayer master lavel, the better. There are some quests that unlock teleports (e.g."Watchtower") or items that you can teleport with (e.g. "ghost Ahoy"). They are very convenient for getting around in the BIG world of P2P. Other data was removed when acoount got hacked...
