Saru Inc
Herro. Ok so like, rewind 2 years and here I was posting on this forum all the time like it was my life. And here I am 2 years later making a post on this forum. Hmm. But in between that I've lost like 75 lbs. All from cutting out all the crap food, and running. I used to only be able to run like a quarter of a mile, now I'm up to 3. Run every night. Heres the issue. Most exercises bore me besides cardio. Seriously boring. But I am going to get a gym membership to lose a tiny bit of flab surrounding my triceps (totally not.... flattering at all.) As well as work on my quads. Obviously I'll be doing full body work outs, but in the long run these are the main body parts I want changed. I don't care at all about 'defined' abs honestly. I just don't like -excess- fat. A little fat is ok too. What should I look for when I get a gym membership? I know being open late is very important, there's like 4 or 5 24/7 gyms in my area. I know most of what a person wants in a gym is personal to themselves, but are there any 'word to the wise' type things I might not think of? Also, any tips to stop eating at night? Based on my work/school schedule, I'm up most of the night, usually til about 4am. And I absolutely cannot stand eating in the morning. It just messes me up. But -everytime- I eat at night, I crazy overeat. I know my posts have lots of needless spaces in it, so let me reiterate: -Any common factors that you've come to appreciate in your gym you might not have thought about prior to,- How do you stop eating like crazy when you have like 8 episodes of law and order svu to watch. So srs. I already drink TONS of water. Doesn't help though. Thanks! I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. Ouchy
One thing I had heard about those 24 hours gyms is that they don't actually have barbells. This for me is a massive turn off, and it means you cannot do many good exercises, particularly squats, dead lifts, and bench press (aside from dumbbell and smith machine (which is crappy)). What kind of foods do you snack on? Straight popcorn with NO ADDITIVES (Sugar, butter) is great, as it's just carbs, and has virtually no fat. Another alternative is almonds, or even celery. My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.
Saru Inc
Popcorn is doable. Nuts and celery? No. I am not man enough for raw celery or broccoli yet, doubt I will ever be. Tis a shame. stevepole
I've never been to a 24hr gym but the ones I know about have the standard equipment you'd come to expect from any gym. I would definitely tour each gym to make sure they have everything you need. Do you want swim? Are there plenty of free weights? Cardio machines? Etc. So be sure to get prices, and ask if there are any promotions or discounts available. Also don't feel pressured to sign up right then, take your time. If you have any major universities near you, they're also worth checking out has as they have really competitive rates and in my opinion from my experience better deals then local gyms. Iamdan
Make sure they have free weights, power racks (or at least stands)and allow chalk. Forget the cable machines. Pool and sauna are a plus.
fastortoise
Personally, the closest one is the better one. All gyms have free weights and racks (if they don't I wouldn't consider them gyms) along with a few treadmills and stationary bikes is all you really need. I can't stand driving 15+ minutes just to go to a gym, so again, closer better.
stevepole
I'd agree with that, every gym I've used, I've been within biking distance so I didn't have to drive.

I love to run/bike outside only, so treadmills aren't even in my thought process at this time. I'd agree with that, every gym I've used, I've been within biking distance so I didn't have to drive. Indubitably. Thanks guys I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001.
