I really need 74 hunter for Juju farm pots.

I don't really like hunt and I don't know much about it. I just did Falconry to 70.

 

I hear a lot of mixed opinions how to train it. Some say Chins, some say Red Salamander and some say Jadinkos.

I would suggest common jadinkos to 74 since you still actually need the ugune seeds to make the farm pots, and those are relatively uncommon. I personally went from 68 (used hunting pots) to 75 only getting like 10-12 ugune seeds.

Jadinkos are slow and frustrating at that level. Do red sally's to at least level 74 and then switch over. Make sure to always use your highest hunter boosting summoning familiar as well as hunter pots/oog'lag spa boosts for the best results.

I found that with hunting pots + bear they were bearable. It also let me get farming jujus ASAP.

Experience rates anyone?

I would also suggest hunter spa mud bath. It gives a good chunk of levels to pump up with. I'm at 73 hunter right now, so I understand your pain. :P

Neither are botted atm so it's all good, but which is better.

Red sallys max at around 90 k exp/hr, jadinkos at 70 are around 45 k exp/hr.

No wonder they were so slow. I thought they were like 100k or something >_>

So off to salamanders...

Do I need stuff like Polar Bear and pots on Reds?

The boosts can only help, but sallies have a pretty high catch rate without them.

I would recommend that you use a bear always while hunting. Of course, if you decide it's getting in your way, it wouldn't effect the XP/H too badly to dismiss it.
