Temple Trekking-need help on the 2 hard escorts.

So whats the best way to level these 2 to 99?

On all the easy and medium escorts I would take hard path, and just tank on events like snakes, shades, ghasts while they attacked and leveled rather fast. But, these 2 hard escorts, rarely hit so that's not working.

Is it better just to rush through as many hard events per trip and do all the killing with them almost never being involved in the combat? Can they level this way?

Thanks for any help. Really just want to finish this and be done with it lol :)

Hard is ill advised as they die easy.

But yeah jsut rush events, those 2 level up primarily from event completion xp rather than combat xp (event completion xp is higher for them compared to toehr 4)

I've never actually had any of my easy companions die on hard.

Especially with the new AI update, all monsters will stop attacking the companion if you attack them just once.

Something like ice barrage or rune thrown axe spec really works well.

Also, the AI's can eat food, and KO's aren't really a problem if you're quick on your feet and put yourself between your follower and the monsters before the battle begins.

Medium or easy might be faster levels for all i know, but NPC death shouldn't be the reason to not do hard paths with hard escorts.

Easy & Medium escorts rarely die on hard paths. I just tanked all the att and let them lvl.

But with the hard escorts, well, it sucks lol. The one chick roams all over and attacks anything she can and dies rather easy, the one guy you get the staff from isnt so bad.

Yea they eat, but if they get piled they dont eat enough. It's just annoying as I am sure jagex intended it to be.

Thanks for reply Grimy, I'm a fan of your work :)

The biggest problem I've found is with snakes. While the update did change it so that monsters will aggro onto you if you attack them once, if you ever get into a position where they can't attack you (obstacles, pathing problems because they're a large monster, etc) and your companion is still attacking them they'll switch focus.

I also know that shades are sometimes glitched where you'll be standing right beside them and attacking them and they will not retaliate at all, meaning you have to kill them first.

The only times I had a companion die were in the above situations. Snakes basically instagibbed Rolayne before I could draw all of the aggro and the shades wouldn't stop attacking Smiddi.
