Powerfrog
Hey i need to train 94-99 mage while collecting charms. Was curious how i should go about doing this. I understand that bursting is roughly 600k/hour in rune costs with charged battle robes and staff of light. Barraging is closer to 2m/hour in the above gear. How much magic xp would i be likely to get an hour bursting, with +30% magic damage, +110 magic accuracy, overloaded*.How much magic xp would i be likely to get an hour barraging, with +30% magic damage, +110 magic accuracy, overloaded*. How many charms bursting? How many charms barraging? At what income/hour is it better to not charge the robes and instead use ahrims or something. *Are overloads worth using? Assuming full creation cost.

Quyneax
Overloads aren't worth using. As for battle-robes vs Ahrim's, just assume x hours to charge, y hours to degrade, and calculate the gp saved in x hours of charging at y*cost/hr with robes. muggiwhplar
Why wouldn't you use Akrisae's over Ahrims? After about +70 mage att, any additional bonuses will not provide any significant advantage-- you'll still get ~350 crims/1k casts. If the set effect works on monsters, you'd have infinite prayer there too.
Sir_Squab
Akrisae's armour would work better then Ahrims, but Battlerobes still offer the runes saving. Sol might also be a better choice then Akrisae's Mace(...?) because of runes saving. Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. Quyneax
Akrisae is definitely the best to use apart from using sol when you don't need more prayer. Leaf
Magic damage bonuses apparently only work for the first hit of a multi-target spell, so you'll have to switch targets to even out the damage. Just FYI. Wolpertingers are worth it, but dunno about Overloads. I never used to bring those because of needing to save inv space, but if you have infinite prayer from Akrisae's.... Powerfrog
So as i don't have access to wopltinger, i should just forget about magic damage boosts? And as the 5% damage from sol increase only works on 1 of 9 lobsters, i should just use the mace instead for infinite prayer. Battlerobes:6 hours degrade. 2 hours to aquire. Saves 3m every 8 hours (375k/hour) but results in much fewer charms and xp, and significantly shorter trips. Yeah looks like i'm going with Akrisae's. Thanks for all the help, guys. One small thing though. At what income do ovl's become worth it? Surely if i have infinite prayer i'll have lots of space, and a hypophetical 50m/hour money making method, they're worth using?
Quyneax
Yes, no (sol also saves runes). Your math is off too, it saves 3m every 8 hours, but only requires 2 hours of expense, e.g. 1.5m/hr. At the point overloads become worth it, it's probably better to hunt mithril dragons/crawlers (with storm of Armadyl) for charms and effigies. In fact, it might already be better at your stats. Powerfrog
I'm a long way from unlocking SoA but actually that's a brilliant idea i didn't consider. And yeah i knew i did something wrong with that calc. Thanks. SoL only saves 12.5% of 1 specific rune by itself right? I don't see how that's more valuable than an infinitely long trip (Hell, even the prayer pots saved might be better cash than the runes)
muggiwhplar
SoL saves all runes for one cast. Id use mace till full prayer then switch to SoL+tome of frost to save money. Hell you could even switch to battle robes too since youd have so much inventory space.
