no one here can tell you how many push-ups you can do daily cuz we don't know how strong you are or w/e.. do as many as you can. for example.. if you can do 50 non-stop. do two sets of 50, take a 5 min break for each one. then stop.

Work your abs like every other muscle, 2-3 times a week with sets of 20-30. Doing 50,000 situps won't help you if you have high bodyfat.

Eat 5-6 small meals a day filled with protein and low GI carbs, such as oats, brown rice, and yams.

Running in the morning on an empty stomach is optimal for fat loss.

Will come up with a better reply tomorrow.

[edit] Don't want to sound 'harsh', but I am 6.7 and I weigh 182 pounds and I am on the 'bigger' size and losing weight.

if you want to lose loads it will take a long time so have to be dedicated, doing fad diets only work for so long and can do more harm than good, a ok goal would be 2 pounds a week loss, anymore and you could do damage to your body

im 6'3 and weigh 200 so dont listen to how2pk :? its not all about stats but since its all muscle im good, rowing is theee! best sport to get into to get into shape with rowing for uni iv got rid of beer belly and am now flat and hard, but it took time and dedication!

the meals are one of the important things but its not rocket science, its good to check calories and fat contect but just use your head, go for meats such as chicken breast with little or no dressing and side salad and veg, not so hard is it? tuna is another good thing and cottage cheese, have substitus for your current eating patterns and cut out the pizza, drink water and not coke or even just go to diet coke, every little helps

cardio is very important getting that heart rate up doing whatever running or ergo or bike but always remember to stretch, swimming is also a good alround workout and cardio thing, myself i never run becasue i cant :o bad injury playing hockey(grass for you americans). you dont have to do major changes to fit it into daily life for example get off a bus 1-2 stops early and walk or bike to wherever insted.

just my 2 cent more more like 20 8)

hellsurfer: you say you are 6'3 and are 200lbs that gives you a bmi of 25. Thats basically the line between normal and overweight. If its mostly muscle you have then you have bothing to worry about. The other guy is 5'9 and 205lbs which is a bmi of 30.8. Anyhting over a bmi of 30 is considered by doctors to be obese. Thats seriously overweight.

I'd concentrate on losing a good 50lbs before you start working on muscle.

Incase anyone was wondering my bmi is 18 and anything below 18.5 is underweight so im not really one to talk about right eating and excercise lol ^_^

Do the cereal diet. Cereal all day, every day!

Who doesnt like cereal!?

Cereals unfortunatly contain quite high levels of salt so be sure to what the salt levels in your other foods if you plan on a cereal diet. Have a bowl for breakfast and a bowl for lunch or dunner. Then you can have whatever you like as your other meal and so long as you excersize you WILL lose a few pounds, especially considering your current weight.

Also if you like your beers... cut down. Youd be very suprised what a difference drinking less beer and other heavier drinks can do to you.

yea i said it was mostly muscle for me, im quite big and bulking up atm

and giving him targets that are to far ahead may be demotivating, and also its nie on impossible to lose weight and gain muscle one or other so work on weight loss but do light weights along with it to start toning and giving you enchmarks for future

Lifting is important if you want to lose bodyfat. Losing weight is easy, losing bodyfat is harder. If you don't eat hardly anything, and just run a lot, you'll be skinny/fat. Basically you'll weigh less but won't be defined.

if ya wanna get big guns u wanna use free weights

To lose weight, sprint. To gain mass in your chest, bench press. To gain mass in your abdominals, do weighted crunches. Doing 20+ crunches is useless and pretty mindless. You DO NOT gain muscle nor strength doing 20+ crunches. Add weight until you can do 8-10 crunches. Do 3 sets, 1 time per day, 3 times a week. To gain mass in your arms, do 8-10 reps, 5 sets of dips and chin-ups, adding weight if you can do more. If you think hard enough you'll be able to find things around the house to do them on, rather than spending money on a machine. Also, I strongly recommend that you squat and dead-lift. And a healthy diet, of course.

:)

Ok first up; If u wanna loose weight don't train too much. If u train, u will get muscels wich weights more than fat. But if ur a man, u don't really care about your weight, only how u look. if u want abs and arms, u must train your strenght and eat a diet with proteins and vegetables (healthy food in general). remember; your strenghth ain't gonna stand on 99 for ever! u must keep it up as well.

[edit] Don't want to sound 'harsh', but I am 6.7 and I weigh 182 pounds and I am on the 'bigger' size and losing weight.

Well you must be a freak then.

My mate is 6'1" and 180 during season and on the middle of the spectrum as far as being built goes.

As to the creator of this thread, I'm going to have to recommend cardio work. (note, this doesn't come from a tubby RS player, I quit because exercise took too much of my time, and have appeared in state finals 3 times so far. I know my [cabbage]).

However, there is an important thing that will really help: have support. When you run or bike, or anything... do so with other people. Join the football team or sommat. Otherwise, unless you are an amazing person and you have out of the ordinary self motivation you will probably quit after a week or two, or you wll not go at a fast enough clip to help you.

So step 1 would be cardio to lose the weight.

Step two would be Low weight high rep lifting. (while you are still dropping the fat). Probably 50%-60% of your max, 20+ times, but don't go to exhaustion. As for what lifts you should do, I would recommend ones that isolate the muscle. So that eliminates the posterboy lifts namely squats.

Step 3 will be just muscles. After you've lost the weight you can do the big muscle lifts all you'd like but just remember to keep some cardio going.

An important endnotes: Your core is much more important than your back, remember that, whichout a strong core a strong body is useless.

And of course dietary, but I really don't know much about that so I won't talk.
