How do i shot TDs?

Powerfrog

Recommended Posts

Just unlocked them. Excited i go for a trip. Manage 2 whole kills and tele as I'm out of food...

Yeah...

How do i improve my already impressive 2 kills per trip?

I has: Overloads, Rapier, Maul, 75m bank, arcane stream, EEE, dreadnips, LOW RANGE, relatively HIGH MAGE, 89 summoning.

I do not has: SoA, Void, any other chaotic.

(Poly > range?)

Really it's just practice. My first trip I got half a kill on a tort full of food. Now after some 5000 kills I can get 45 kills/hr with a steel titan and have no food problems whatsoever. Just keep at it, you'll get better. And imo, ranged is still better than polypore. Just train it up a bit (80 is okay, but 90+ would really help you out). I would recommend using a setup something like this (old pic but it's still what I use):

Briobe122's 10-step guide to staking:

1. Get cleaned

2. Vow to never stake ever again! (very important)

3. welfare tds and get claws

4. kill glacors til i get boots

5. bandos ffa or more tds til i have around 50m

6. realize that it is far too hard to rebuild using steps 3, 4, and 5

7. give up the vow to never stake again

8. go back staking and make your bank back

9. if you failed at step #8, Go back to step #1

10. if you succeed at step #8, you will eventually feel the need to make money for rich people stuff, have a bad day of staking, then get cleaned anyways

Pain is just weakness leaving the body.

^ Good setup there, but you'll want to bring either an unholy book or a dragon defender as well, not to mention either EEE or dragon claws for special.

@OP:

Don't worry, when I first started TDing I also only got a few kills and thought I would never get better as well.

Try using this setup: (Include claws or EEE - forgot to screeny)

Instead bring a unicorn. You also don't need infernal urns or the herbicide. Bring a god cape instead of Max cape. You can also switch to flasks and have a lot more free inventory space for either drops or more food. (rocktails, brews, or prayer potions)

Play around with a setup that you like, there really isn't one best setup for TDs.

I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come."

Hmm i actually used that set up, but used c maul instead of rapier. Also didn't have the amulet switch, and brought only sharks.

I think my main issue is not praying against the right attack, which will hopefully come with practice.

It's a shame it's such a long walk from a bank (Sure it's no DKs or GWD, but it's still inconvenient enough to deter me from purposely trying new things out :P)

Which would be the best armour to tank TDs in general? Forgetting about their accuracy bonuses and practicality for a second. (Poly vs bandos vs karils)

Yes, you will get a lot better at prayer switching after a while. Keep it simple and only fight one TD at a time; trap the rest.

One technique you can use is to wait for the TD to start meleeing you and then to soulsplit the whole time, he won't switch attack styles. You'll be able to effectively outheal his hits most of the time. Put magic protection on when he does his special and then switch back to soulsplit. Virtus, arcane SS, and a steel titan is great for that.

If you die you should be able to get back to your grave within 3 minutes. Just remember to have at least 2 spare lanterns or more in you bank.

I refer to the Tip.It guide, imo it's quite good.

Polypore setups with ganodermic have very high magic and melee defence so if you accidentally get a second demon on you you can tank them for a while, especially with a unicorn.

So yeah i went for a few trips and once i got the attack styles down (He changes to a style and only uses that for about 5 hits, and does an animation to show he's changing attack style) it was really easy to survive with only uni... *When killing one a time and not being destroyed by about 5...* Which happens a **lot** to me due to impatience/fail luring. It limits me to waiting on 1 spawn which is just depressingly boring.

My problem now it's safe, is they're so damn slow, i saw woox's videos (I know it was silly to think I'd be able to imitate the legend) and i seem to be doing about 1/4th the speed of him.

I guess i just need to learn how to lure 2-3 of them safely.
