What weapon should I buy for waterfiends, and what are good methods to killing them?

Goliath gloves > chaotic maul> saradomin sword>zammy spear

 

wear karils or elite void with the rest the highest str boosting gear you can. If you have soul split use that and turmoil otherwise protect range and piety. If you have soul split you can go with bandos at the ancient cavern for armor, CT you need the defense if karils/void. Bring a bunyip if you want to to help with healing/eating raw food with scrolls.

haha i was gonna give you my setup, but then i looked you up and see that you have the dung for chaotics, chaotic maul wins plain and simple, (im the nub that uses extremes and a great axe which iv found to be better that sara sword even though im not using the set in all 5 of the runs iv been on[sarcasm...] lol)

empirically sara sword is going to be better than a great axe despite what you've "found". Most likely the higher hits or some other similar factor makes it more enjoyable for you to use it, but you will get more kills/hr with a sara sword.

Rapier really only becomes comparable once you get 90+ melee stats and extremes/overloads. OP hasn't posted his stats so I didn't include it. Regardless I haven't seen it proven that it is definitively better than a c maul even with high stats and overloads so if someone has research on it besides the inconclusive stuff in the Data and Research board I'd love to see it so I can post more accurate information.

Looked over that thread again and it seems that it is indeed still unclear where rapier falls. Mixed results in the "tests" that were done on that thread mean just stick to what I've outlined in my first post until more information surfaces.

No one's published data that I'm confident in regarding the stab def of wfs. What we do have, however, suggests that rapier>maul at around 110ish attack. Ill see if I can round up more data and get a more accurate number.

So WFS have a stab defense rating of around 337.75.
