Dragoon5464
So, I've been wanting for a long time to get in some more boss fighting. I know KBD can be good fun by meself. Thing is, I've never done GWD or even DKs. (note for Hytters--this is an edited revival of a post I made almost three years ago. looking for updated info because I still haven't done a lot of things, lol) Take a look down at my stat sig, then hop back up here. Note the <99 sum and lack of access to ovls. Here's what I'm looking to do: Hopefully, get a quick rundown of how to fight all the major bosses with some trustworthy folks (Certain Hyt chatters, I'm talkin' to you.)Get all the stuff I don't have that everybody else these days seems to have comin' out their bums, like chaotics, dreadnips, etc.If I need to get other things out of the way first, like getting certain untradables, find out what's the quickest way to get them done. Here's what I've got to work with (or the handicaps to work around, if you like): 20 mil cash.Access to TD's and Glacors, if anyone thinks they'd be a good idea.Vine whip.Dragon defender. Dfs. Obsidian cape. Could get untrimmed wc cape but it's identical to obby anyway. Fire cape may be do-able.Helm of Neitiz.Enhanced Excal for healing.Full void with just range helm, iirc.Bandos top/bottom.D boots. So, then: If you think I can pull off some boss group trips to help aid the cash flow, which boss(es) should I go to, what method should I use, and what inventory/equipment will I need?If I should get fire cape, what inventory and equipment should I use nowadays? How long will it take me at my given levels? Anyone willing to act as a mentor of sorts would be much appreciated. My private is on whenever I am. Fallstar
I recommend you do get a fire cape, its great for slayer in general and being comfortable with fight caves and jad turns a skip task into a great slay xp/hr task. If its your first go at fight cave, I think using polypore staff with ganodermic armour is the basic setup, working to maximize mage offence bonus and prayer bonus. If you could get Jad as a slayer task, it'd help a lot for getting your first fire cape. Full Slayer Helm, Soul Wars/Ardy cape, Gano top + bottom, Infinity/Dragon boots, seers ring, would be the basics. Your melee stats are more than enough to comfortably melee the fight caves, but for getting used to prayer switching I'd recommend maging it. Becoming proficient at TD's and Glacors would be a good idea, as well as the income, you can get some very nice crimson + blue charms to work on your summoning, and possibly the occasional effigy. If you seriously want to get into pvm, I'd recommend dungeoneering to get a rapier and then slaying till max/near max combat, then dungeoneering some more to unlock some of the other useful rewards (Rigour, Augury, Chaotic CB, Eagle Eye Kite, Maul, CLS, all being used prominently in PVM) Asmodean <
Quyneax
Firstly, you do need overloads, turmoil, at least a unicorn and a chaotic weapon if you intend to solo stuff. Except soloing corp which doesn't require summoning or chaotics, but requires goliath gloves. I'd recommend getting either of the following for starters:Unicorn + chaotic rapier (tds)Soul split + 91 magic (glacors) This will allow you to do these bosses fairly quickly without using expensive brews to heal, and without using more than 1 inventory space to heal (unicorn scrolls) or even none at all. Upgrading the cape slot should be a general priority, since it's easy and the gains are big. Void mage+melee helmets can be used at glacors, but aren't crucial. Imbued rings and DT gloves+dreadnips are nice but minor. Dragoon5464
Something else I meant to ask about, what's the strategy for Nomad these days? Is he more easily doable with gano/pps?
Quyneax
Pps not so much even though he's not at the top magic defence wise, but ganodermic does make him a lot easier to melee. Given your ranged level, melee is definitely the better option. Whip+defender will do, get a rapier if you want to be 100% sure. With rapier and soul split I finished him with less than 9 brews and 3 super restores. Pulled a kyatt out and spammed ambush from the get go. I didn't even bother dodging his 750 attack.
